“Overall nice, except...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2012

Stayed here due to the close proximity to the Water Tower and great rate on Hotwire. Check-in was easy and staff was polite and friendly. However, I asked for a room facing the street after being told they were not busy, and was told they really "don't have any rooms with a view" but could put us on 9th floor so at least we would be up high....? What?! I asked to face the front, not for an upgrade, view, or anything else! Seems easy enough, but instead we faced another building next door :( The room was small but clean and comfortable. I was not pleased with the crazy toilet up high (toes dangling on floor while sitting) but this is not a deal breaker. Also, I was confused about what their doormen did, as no one ever even tried to open a door for us, even when we arrived carrying our own luggage! This was just one more person we did not have to tip, but could be a big issue to some. We will probably not be back, but this has more to do with the fact that I like to try different hotels around the downtown area.

“You'll be glad you stayed here”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2012

It's steps from both the lake and the big shoppng district, near enough to transporation, and easy to get a cab. It has a pleasantly old-timey feel, but the rooms are updated and the bathroom is up to speed. The bar was a decent late-night hangout, and has huge TVs for sportswatching.

“Expectations surpassed”

Centrally located - easy walking to the main shopping avenue(Magnificent Mile Michigan Avenue)

Staff very helpful - very comfortable room and bathroom although the bathroom could have had more shelf space for toiletries/cosmetics etc.

“third visit during getaway for thanksgiving”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2012

I'm writing this reveiw because I feel I owe it to the the lobby bar. Mora makes the best martinis and his service to the patrons is unmatched. We went here for lunch and martinis, but the menu for both the food and the bar have changed. NOT for the better (the menu), food still great and tasty. Stick with the bar menu that works. Fortunately for us, Mora accomodated our need for the original. Perfect again! The excellent is for the staff, especially Mora at the lobby bar. Thanks much for another great experiance.

Room Tip: Ask for martini recommendation at lobby bar

“Expectations met and exceeded”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2012

A friend and I chose Millennium Knickerbocker for our 3 night stay in Chicago.

The purpose of our trip was site-seeing and Black Friday shopping, and this hotel is perfectly situated “where it all happens”. Stores, malls, restaurants, bars, tourist attractions are all within walking distance. We only had to use our car once, while in Chicago. In addition to that, sight-seeing tours can be booked right in the hotel lobby. Parking is available across the street for $37 a day (and this was one of the most affordable options in the area). Valley parking was available for over $40 a day.

We opted for a Superior 2 Double bed room, which was worth every penny (other than 2 separate beds that we needed, it offered additional ~100 sq ft of space). Although the building is aged, all areas of the hotel feature upgrades and are well-maintained.

The room had everything one would expect from a 4-star hotel: a flat screen TV, a desk, a mini-bar, 2 cordless phones, a safe, free-of-charge Internet connection, sufficient noise insulation. Do not expect a fascinating view from the windows, as the building stands among other tall structures.

The granite-countertop bathroom had generous amount of toiletries, extra towels, a rain-shower, a magnifying mirror and a hair dryer.

The staff was amazing. Everyone knew their role and played it very well.

A definite A+!

Room Tip: It's worth upgrading for the Superior room.
