“The Drake Hotel, Chicago”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2013

The Drake is conveniently located in downtown Chicago adjacent to the "Magnificent Mile". The hotel was elegant, regal and comfortable. Their seafood restaurant was steeped in history as many of Chicago's colourful businessmen have been regular diners at this same restaurant. I would stay at the Drake again on future trips to Chicago.

Great amenities and great staff. This hotel is historic and makes you feel like you're in an old fashioned hotel with the large rooms and elevators with couches, along with the bar which has been open every day since prohibition was lifted.

The Historic hotel is great. Had a room had great view of lake and was within easy walking distance to restaurants and shopping. Hotel staff was friendly and curteous. Great location to stay in the city as a base to explore

This hotel is a classic. Great service. Some service items were over priced or should have been included as part of the room charge, such as internet access. The breakfast buffet was most complete and very good. The hotel location is great.

Room Tip: We asked for a room with a nice view and quite, and all are good

This is one of those grand hotels built to acccommodate a traveller's every wish. It's been taken over by Hilton and so far they have, with some minot exceptions, maintained the standard of excellence one would expect in a five star hotel. However, the toileteries in the executive suite we were in were below standard. At the price for the room one expects something more than the shampoo and soap bar to be found in every standard room. Up-grading to an Executive level room is probably worth it for the view of Lake Michigan alone, but the breakfast provided is very basic - scrambled eggs but no sausage or bacon for example.

Room Tip: Get a Lakeview room - it's worth the extra.

We really like the location and the antique look...but the bathrooms need restoration ASAP and the rugs and curtains need to be cleaned more frequently. You could smell the dust and the water pressure was almost inexistent in the shower.
Breakfast was very good! I really liked it and the service was great! Specially the waitress, a very nice mexican lady, sadly I don't remember her name and the concierge! Very nice ladies =) thank you!
