“Get Hideaway for a Getaway!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2013

I just returned from spending four nights at The Willows in Chicago, IL. Very charming place! The rooms are kept nicely, the beds were WONDERFUL, and they have a connection with a health club. Be warned that the health club is about a 10-15 min. walk from the hotel, but well worth the walk. The bathroom is a bit small, but it is an older hotel with a lot of charm. They have a decent grab and run breakfast, cookies in the afternoon, and coffee/tea all day.The location is very good for finding great places to eat or to go out.

Room Tip: No restaurant at the hotel.

Our daughter lives in Lincoln Park. We have walked by this hotel many times. It looked nice and close to her place. Finally stayed there 2 nights. Very nice and very clean. It is an older hotel but accommodations were nice and up to date. In room bar had beers for $2.00. Quiet at night. Very nice continental breakfast. Free pass to area health club. Only problem with that it was about four blocks away. They do have a parking garage down the alley with unlimited in and out. Not really a big deal as we could and did walk around the area . Felt very safe. Look forward to our next stay there.

This hotel has the most incredible service I have ever experienced, and I've stayed at a lot of great hotels! The staff makes you feel at home immediately. They are full of helpful information about the neighborhood and are eager to make your stay a memorable one. The property is lovely, with clean rooms and comfortable furnishings. I would've liked more counter space in the bathroom, but that was an easy trade-off for all the other wonderful things about the hotel. The surrounding neighborhood is beautiful with lots of great restaurants and shops. It's an easy walk to most anything you need. I highly recommend this outstanding hotel!

The employees at the Willows were among the most friendly I have encountered at a hotel. The hotel is in a safe and quiet neighborhood among other apartment buildings, but still convenient to bus lines, restaurants, coffee and other shops. My only suggestion would be to update the place a bit, at least starting with the beds. Beyond that, I have no complaints.

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights as we explored the city of Chicago. The hotel was great with a large and comfortable room, and an equally clean, spacious and well-lit bathroom. We appreciated having the working air conditioning unit in the room as it got very hot during our stay. The room was cleaned and made up every day, and we found it to be more than satisfactory. The single available elevator was a bit slow in arriving sometimes, but in an older building this is to be expected. Breakfast was included in our nightly rate and we did help ourselves some mornings, though not every day. There was a good selection of fresh fruit, baked goods (muffins, bagels, Danish, croissants), cereal, microwaveable pre-prepared breakfast sandwiches, coffee, tea and juice. It was great to have this option, especially on mornings when we had to leave bright and early. We found the customer service to be very warm and helpful, with all the staff that we encountered at the front desk taking the time to answer our questions thoughtfully and provide useful advice. Parking was a few steps around the corner of the hotel, and though it was down an alleyway, it felt quite safe and was always frequented by others using the parking facilities in that area. The entire neighbourhood around the hotel felt very safe and secure, even at night. There were lots of tasty restaurants to choose from (Stella's diner, and Wilde pub were really good, for example). You are not walking distance to the main sites to see in Chicago - we took public transit or drove, and this was easy as well and the hotel staff provided good directions. We enjoyed our stay here and would definitely recommend it! The reasonable price and terrific service would bring us back again - though not in the heart of downtown, you save money on your stay (including parking, which was a consideration for us) and the service is warm and sincere.

Room Tip: Rooms on higher floors will be quieter, though being in a city there is always some outdoor noise.

Really nice hotel, central and close to transport links. Free coffee and cookies in reception area, biggest highlight has been the extremely friendly staff though, everybody goes out of thror way to help and does it with a smile on their face - great service, we would definately return!

My friend and I visited Chicago and we stayed for five days at The Willows in Chicago. What a pleasant stay!! The hotel is on a quiet street, very conveniently located near Lincoln Park and not too far from downtown, . The neighborhood is very safe with quite a few nice place to eat and shop. We feel very secured to walk late at night.

The hotel staff was welcoming, efficient and very friendly. Our rooms were clean and comfortable.Though a bit small, (we both had a small Queen), it had everything we needed. The baths were newly updated, with plenty of hot water and clean. The continental breakfast was plentiful. Fresh coffee or tea is avalaible in the lobby all day and it is free of charge. In the afternoon, fresh baked cookies are also offered.

I will certainly stay there again and recommand it to friends. The Willows contributed to our nice stay in Chicago.
