I was staying a single night in Chicago and wanted to be near the venue where I was enjoying a concert. Very limited selection if you don't want to travel toward downtown/near north side or stay out near airport.
The Willows is tucked away in a great Chicago neighborhood near Diversey and Broadway which means its only major downside that I saw was lack of onsite or reasonably priced nearby parking. There are a few public lots nearby for a fee and the hotel rate likely makes this a fine option for most.
Great old building but doesn't feel ancient or worn down. For a modest fee I upgraded my room and enjoyed a suite with plenty of room to stretch out. Comfortable bed and sitting area make The Willows a great place to relax. One oddity... the few toiletries provided by the hotel were attached to dispensers near the sink and bath. Felt kind of "bargain" hotel-ish.
Staff was welcoming, helpful and responsive.
