“Great View”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

First time to Chicago and we selected a great hotel. Right on the river, near Michigan Ave., walking to many attractions and restaurants. Staff very helpful. Wonderful river view. Hope to return soon.

Room Tip: Upgrade to river view if possible.

We stayed here on our vacation in Chicago for two nights here before moving to another hotel in another section of the city. This hotel was fabulous. A perfect location. Incredible views from our State Street window on the city and the Chicago River. Right in the heart of everything, this hotel was a perfect home base as we explored the city from the top of the Loop to the bottom and both sides. Our room was luxurious, clean, comfortable, cool and well taken care of by the staff. The staff was fabulous and attentive to any need. We would definitely stay here again on a visit to Chicago. Thanks for a great stay.

Room Tip: We called and asked for a great view after booking our room. They were very helpful and while not gi...

Right on the Chicago river, close to Michigan Street, great service, with a very friendly staff. The food was very good, compared favorably with the much more expensive Peninsula. Would stay here again in a heart beat.

Room Tip: River side

I spent labor day weekend on Chicago. This hotel is ideally located to explore the city. The river walk is right across the street, several subway lines are withing 5 walking minutes and the new DIVVY bike-share location is across the street. Grant park is also within walking distance and several boat architecture cruises leave only 10 minutes away from the hotel. Since it is located in downtown, you pay a premium rate (most likely $200+ per night), so you need to decide how mich money you are willing to spend for this convenience. The staff was friendly and knowledgable and the amenities are as expected for this type of high end hotel. The only word of advice I would give is make sure you do not get a room adjacent to the elevator banks. Unfortunately my room was in that location and it was quite noisy.

This hotel has everything: good location, a variety of food options, and decent staff. The hotel lobby is very classy and elegant, if a bit small for a hotel of its aspirations. The staff here is very friendly, though English is a second language for most so be patient. The staff went our of their way for us when we had some special requests. Excellent attention to detail.

From this hotel, all the best of Chicago is nearby, with the river, Millennium Park, and the theatre district all a short walk away. If you drive here, use the valet parking. Self park is not convenient.

My only complaint is that the sound of the elevated train could be heard in my room. More soundproofing on the windows would be appreciated. Otherwise, a fine hotel.

We stayed here in August for a weekend getaway with friends. This is a great hotel in an excellent location. It is within walking distance to a multitude of Chicago hot spots. The river view from our room didn't hurt either. This will be our go to hotel for our next trip to Chicago.

I stayed at the hotel for nearly a week while attending a conference on-site in August. It was bustling with people throughout the time I was at the hotel, but I never felt overwhelmed with people. The hotel has a spacious and open design that is welcoming and easy to navigate. There are three entrances to the hotel that can put you within blocks of the Art Institute and great shopping. The hotel's parking attendants were also very helpful with providing directions. The hotel room itself was very large and comfortable. I was a bit surprised that the room had not been fully vacuumed, but the bed was one of the better beds I've slept on in a hotel. One thing to be aware of is that the rooms don't have mini-bars and you'll likely need to leave the hotel to get snacks and sodas if you aren't interested in visiting the hotel restaurants or the mall space on the bottom level of the hotel. Otherwise, this was a great stay and I'd certainly recommend it to others wanting to stay downtown.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms near elevators and on the lower floors for quieter nights.
