“Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2012

Difficult to beat this for a location in downtown. Close to the main shopping areas & lots of good bars & food places close by. Good amenities, well equipped rooms & helpul staff. Not the cheapest place in town but you get what you pay for.

Perfect location for downtown business, truly professional and customer-service oriented staff and decor. Early check-in (9a) was no problem and staff even set aside a spacious river-view room with a pull-out couch because I booked through the Marriott site and am a rewards member. I stayed here 3 days on business during the nearby Lollapalooza festival in Aug. The room was clean, quiet & freshly decorated, had a huge bathroom and was ideal for working. The well-appointed lobby (with excellent food choices unrelated to the hotel!) was also comfortable and professional and good for working. Wi-fi was not included in the room price and free coffee in the lobby would have been nice. Otherwise, it was excellent.

Room Tip: Book through Marriott's site in order to ease preferred help on site (early check in, special re...

Just returned from a weekend visiting family. My flight arrived hours before check-in but the front desk was extremely flexible and found me a room when I arrived (I had contacted them via the virtual concierge but still...) Great location- steps from the Orange line to Midway Airport, shopping, museums, and theaters. The bed was incredibly comfortable (First time in a long time I woke up in a hotel without back pain!) Room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Just wish there was a small fridge/ microwave in the room!

This is a truly outstanding property, first class service in every respect. Rooms had excellent service, spacious room, a real plus for downtown Chicago. The room was very modern and generously appointed. My associate had a health emergency at this hotel and the staff could not have been more attentive and caring. This is truly a superb experience! A first class hotel. Well done!

Room Tip: Downtown Views are more spacious than river. But, hard to go wring at this hotel.

I stayed here during a retail conference, and some days before and after. I got the "conference" rate for the whole period...that was really good, otherwise I would have looked for another hotel to stay.

The property is very well located: you are somewhere between "the Loop" and "the magnificent mile".

The room is big and comfortable, and besides my room wasn't one of the "river view" rooms, I still could see the river and had a nice angle view from the Trump International Tower.
The bathroom was also spacious. But the water sometimes took a little too much to get hot.
The light under the cabinet was really cool and handy for you to go to the bathroom during the night.

The robe promised in the web site wasn't there....I had to ask for one, which was promptly provided.

The charge of US$ 15/day (until noon, not for a 24hrs period) for internet in your room it's ridiculous for a hotel of that level. And offering it free wi-fi at the lobby make it even more infamous...They make you to go down to the lobby for you to use your computer or smart phone. And after all, anyone can have access to the wi-fi.
If we want to use the internet at the conference area, also we would have to pay....What they were thinking? Nowadays that doesn't make any sense for me.
Charging for local call also not a good touch.
The staff was very nice...all of them...from the front desk to the bell boys...
There is also a cafe place that server Starbucks coffee, but used to close too early...around 5pm.

I stayed in a suite, as a I was traveling with my adult son. The room was tastefully decorated and has a wonderful view of the Chicago River and the surrounding area. But the service was not good. We arrived at 3:50 (4 PM check in), told the room would be ready in 5 minutes, we'd be called on our cell. That did not happen, I had to stand in a long line to check on things, and was then told it would now be at least 30 minutes, i.e., 5 PM before the room was ready. When I asked about another room, even one a step up, the person I spoke with - an asst manager of some kind - lied and said we had the highest suite level offered. They finally put us in a different suite than the one we had been assigned to originally: why was that not done in the first place? He took $50 off the room, but only after I demanded it.
Leaving was also difficult: it took 30 minutes to get our car, the staff just forgot about us. Often the concierege desk was not staffed. (though the advice we got the one time it was staffed was very helpful.) We saw frequent long lines at the front desk, often only one person staffing it. The "Starbucks" coffee shop generally had only one person, though it was the only place to buy a quick breakfast or snack.
The room also lacked anything more than basic amenities for a 4 star hotel. Yes, it was nicely decorated, comfortable, terrific view, large bathroom, lots of cable channels. But since it calls itself a luxury hotel, that is part of the package, right? But no wine glasses, only one robe, one very small bottle of water. They charge for use of the in-room safe - seriously? - and our internet card was blocked by the hotel so we had to pay their 15 a day internet fee. I don't call this luxury; I call it nickle and diming the patrons. Which may explain the understaffing at the concierge desk and front desk as well.

we stayed here for 3 nights. can't get a better chicago location, walking distance to everything.
nice, clean hotel. the hallways looked a bit dull and dark and could get a touch up.
also this hotel didn't had a minibar/fridge in the room. i've stayed at man renaissance before and this was the first 4star hotell with no fridge! a bit of a dissapointment.
over all i'll be back , loved the city and this place
