We expected a very affordable place to stay for a weekend trip to Chicago and not much else. The Holiday Inn Mart Plaza was definitely an affordable place to stay - but it way a lot more than that too. The hotel overlooks the river. Our room had a great river view. It's also centrally located - and there's an El stop accessible directly through the convention center which is connected. I'd definitely stay here again. The hotel also comes with free wifi, which is great for connected travelers like us!

Amazing views of the city, reasonable price, centrally located, great staff, nice rooms, located in the center of everything.

We stayed here for 2 nights having booked with hotwire.com.for a great price. We had earlier stayed at a hotel close the the Magnificent Mile, so we wanted to try something different & slightly cheaper. We were pleasently surprised. The hotel was in a highrise over an office building, therefore it had some great views. It was a very nice hotel and a great room, but it all starts on the 14th Floor, so be advised you need to take a lift to check in first of all. Great views of the city and river and easy walking distance to many sites. We love to get out & about walking so it was in a good location, plus we didn't fear for our safety . Taxis were always close at hand.
We had a couple drinks at the Skyline Bar on our last night and it also has a fantastic view of Chicago skyline - really beautiful at night & what a great way to remember our last night in Chicago. We decided to stay there and eat, just ask the waitress for the restaurant menu rather than the limited bar snacks/menu. Beer prices in the bar we felt were actually quite resonable, considering the view you have & we had paid more for a beer at a basic restaurant. All in all, we'd stay there again.
