“Not "poor" but not wonderful”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2013

Stayed two nights for a girls weekend away. The room was over $300 a night and is located in a fantastic spot. Fir the price and after seeing the lobby/bar area, I was disappointed in the room itself. Pros: the view was wonderful, the bed was SUPER COMFY, and the location is fantastic, nice staff.... Cons: very small bathroom. It was hard to sit on toilet and close door. Couldn't stand by sink in the middle because the toilet was in the way. At one point in the afternoon, there was a loud drilling noise next door and water started running out of the shower head...a steady stream, no fridge in room, tile/grout/shower were dated and not dirty but worn and there were awkward yellow spots on ceiling, room size was small as well, have to pay additional for internet, no diet coke/pepsi in vending machine on m my floor...had to go down three before I found diet Pepsi, after spending so much on a room, the little things eventually added up to be annoyances. I did not book the room, my friend did as she is a Marriot rewards member. She had a warm shower (wouldn't get hot) and was equally disappointed. I usually stay at the Palomar on the same block. They set the bar high for their competitors. All and all, on a 1~10 scale, I give this Marriott a 4.

This is another nice Marriott. Service is better than expected. I had 2 rooms for my family. Room service was pretty good. I wanted to thank Nelson and Jacques the bellmen. Armando saved our breakfast I will stay again if I can get a good price. Great restaurants and dining are all walkable.

Stayed there for 2 nights in Oct 2013. Location is perfect ! Many restaurant and shopping stores around the blocks. Nice area and feel safe. Room is big and clean, except the toilet tank leaking and keep making refilling water sound all day.

I stayed at the Downtown Marriott, Mag. Mile for a research conference. At a discounted rate I paid $179/night which was a bit costly for one person in a VERY, VERY small room with a King size bed. however, the location made up for the tiny room. Easy access to local restaurants, shopping, and a spectacular view.

My room was close to the elevators and subsequently a bit loud when some guests were laughing and yelling down the hall.

Room Tip: Request a room away from the elevators.

We held our daughter's wedding at the Marriott Chicago Downtown Magnificent Mile this past weekend. From the very beginning of the planning stage we were impressed by the staff! While our daughter lives in Chicago, we don't nor did most of our guests. Everyone had a wonderful time from the rooms, to the great staff, and excellent food-the gingerbread cake was to die for! In the end, we were so happy with the choice of this hotel. Thank you to all the staff, especially Kristina!

This was the second time we've stayed here and for location it can't be faulted. It sits right on the Magnificent Mile with everything within walking distance.

Staff are friendly and helpful and when we were shown to our room which was extremely smelly we were immediately transferred to another room with no fuss.

Room was typical Marriott room although a little small but as you don't spend too much time in it there is no real reason for needing a larger room.

Food in the restaurant was expensive but there are plenty of eateries around (although these aren't cheap either) and breakfast was OK.

Traveling for work which we normally book our own hotels. Due to a large show at the McCormick Center which we were participating in, our in house tradeshow department book a block of rooms for us. This hotel was a little hard to find by car but that is just due to the downtown Chicago roads. The hotel is definitely a beautiful hotel filled with amenities and right on the downtown shopping avenue in Chicago. The rooms were very clean and spacious as was the entire hotel. I really loved the fact that they had express elevators for the higher floors so you are not stopping on every floor. I didn't have a chance to eat at their hotel restaurant however the lounge on the main floor is very spacious and serves excellent food. The soups were extraordinary. My hat off to the "Chefs". This stay was for work and I would definitely stay at this hotel again. It is a little pricey but well worth the extra money based on the customer service I received, the location, and the facility as a whole. The entire staff at the hotel was very customer service oriented and should be commended. Thanks for a great stay!

Room Tip: High floor to see the Chicago Skyline at night. It is beautiful all lit up.
