“Beautiful hotel beautiful downtown location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2013

We stayed here for a business trip and enjoyed the hotel. We brought our 2 boys so we had a room with 2 beds and much to our surprise we had two bathrooms. This was very convenient with 4 people in the room. I enjoy the fact that the past two Hiltons have had a grab and go cafe where you can get drinks, chips, coffee, soup and grab and go food such as sandwiches, salads, cheese plates and more. This one also had Chicago pizza and breakfast sandwiches. You do not always have time for a sit down meal or room service and this a pleasant surprise. We enjoyed the indoor pool and if we had not done so much walking I would have enjoyed the gym as well.

We stayed here April 2012 for 2 nights. Got a room for 79 dollars. The good thing about the hotel is LOCATION. Close to the Miln.Park! The rooms were clean, Internet connection wasn't that great. Will stay ONLY if the price is right!!

Booked two rooms last weekend. Rooms very nice and spacious with two baths in each room. The beds were doubles, not queens but it was OK. Clean and very up to date furnishings. Club floor was great, excellent evening layout and food selection, breakfast was very good with several choices. Hotel location is excellent. Parking is a bit pricey at $50.00 per day, but inline with other hotels. Hilton does it right.

Room Tip: Ask for lake front room.

We have stayed here a few times in the past as location is great for visiting Chicago. Like everything else in chicago, hotel is overpriced for what you get. I am a Hilton honors member and didnt see any additional value at this hotel for being one. We checked in and were given a room that had been recently renovated, very nice, however we noticed there was not a refrigerator in the room, upon checking with the desk to see if we could get one, they informed us that was an additional $25 per night, keep in mind the room rate was close to $300 and the room was renovated. After discussing with the staff they agreed to move us to a room that had a frig no extra cost instead of bringing up a frig, however this was not a renovated room, not anywhere as nice as what we had. Breakfast buffet is nice but tremendously overpriced, not a value if traveling with children. Not sure we will stay here again just not worth all the extra charges for items that other hotels provide free.

Room Tip: Get a higher floor, Hotel is on Michigan Ave with a lot of traffic noise. Lake view is tremendous bu...

Read the most recent reviews before writing this one and couldn't believe how varying the reviews were. We LOVED the Chicago Hilton and would definitely stay here again. We booked in for 4 nights and took advantage of the Family Fun Plan that included a free breakfast for all 4 of us (2 adults, 2 teens), free internet in our room and parking. All in all, a very economical deal. The hotel is old but still well cared for even though its apparent from other reviews that they haven't finished updating the entire hotel yet - a big job since its the 3rd largest hotel in Chicago. We stayed on the 13th floor and the decor was all new, obviously one of the renovated floors. The breakfast buffet was awesome and we looked forward to it every morning. Concierge desk had great hours - opened at 7am every day and stayed open past 9pm. Check out the special room they have at the front of the hotel that has a lot of historical artifacts, pictures and memorabilia from the hotel's famous past. Location is great if you are with a family since its close to Navy Pier and the Museum area (Shedd, Planetarium). I'd stay here again for sure!

Room Tip: Ask for the 13th floor!

Huge historic hotel
Very very small closets, like really really small
Double bathroom rooms were wonderful
Bell staff was great
The breakfast buffet was cold and overpriced ($21)
Housekeeping and front desk was great
The air was not fully controlled in our room it never got really very cool despite turning the air cooler and cooler, assumed it has automated shut off temperatures
The restaurant was surprisingly good, with outdoor seating
Kitty osheas was good
Explore the hotel, the history and architecture is stunning
Like any other big city hotel, very expensive room rate
The elevators were unbelievably fast and always available

Room Tip: Dual bathrooms were great, and get a parking package if u can

We arrived August 10 for a convention. Room booked was for 24th floor executive suite. I am a Hilton Honor member so checked in at that desk and was told by a young man who had on a badge stating "Ask about a free night". I should have known then, there was going to be a problem. After 20 minutes of fumbling around, he stated he had no room for us. Hotel was overbooked. Couldn't believe my ears, after flying for 4 hours and tired was told I would have to get a room at another hotel. My room had been prepaid for 4 nights at a rate of $350 and told no room. We travel all over the world and have never run into such uncaring staff. After 1 hour of arguing with checkin manager we were finally given a room on the 13 floor. A far less expensive room with now compensation. I am a Hilton Honor member and have numerous Hilton Timeshares but treated totally rudely.
Also no help with bags and $65 daily valet parking charge. Still at hotel now, but would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Worst service of any hotel I have stayed at and I have stayed at a lot of hotels in 56 years.
When we were going down the hallway one of the maids was sitting on a chair with her head down.
Also a room down the hallway has a broke glass and empty beer bottle that has been sitting since we arrived August 10th. Unreal. Staff don't care.
