“Great business hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2013 via mobile

Just returned from a conference at this grand old hotel. Yes parts of the hotel are dated but they are in the process of being renovated. The lobby lounge, bar, restaurant were all perfect for business travelers needing a break or to hold a meeting with staff. Many places to sit and catch up on email and work throughout the huge lobby complex as well. As a hilton diamond member I was upgraded to a renovated jr suite which was always clean and stocked with extra towels and amenities. It is a little odd to see the elevator open on different floors and see some floors renovated and some not but that will change over time. The executive lounge is small for such a large property however staff was friendly maintained it well and most importantly they were always restocking beverages and snacks, Isn't that what the lounge should be about?
One of the nice perks that Hilton created here because of the large conference space on site is a food to go place called Snax. It is open from 6 in the morning to 11 at night and has made to order sandwiches, Starbucks coffee and many other items. Like a little up scale deli. Great option.

One negative/ warning is that it is a very busy hotel for conferences and conventions either on site or at McCormick place and they sell out regularly and seems that the front desk could do a better job managing the flow of check in. The check in on a Sunday night at 11:00 pm took over 20 minutes because the hotel had 3 desk clerks managing the complete desk (honors and regular check in) and the delay was each guest trying to check in was being "walked" to another property because of an over sold situation. The desk clerk told me it was my lucky day that I got a room which kind of told me that this is common.

Overall a very good experience for a business hotel in the Loop.

I love Hilton so whenever I travel I try my best to stay at one. Chicago Hilton yet again met the bar. Aside from the awkward Prom / Sorority gathering that they had the evening we came in everything was near perfect. My idea of a weekend getaway did not include a bunch of underage, stumbling drunks in the lobby and on the floors.

I called in a few weeks prior to my arrival to let them know I would be late and the customer service rep was extremely helpful and was willing to accommodate! I also asked if we could get a room with a view. To my pleasant surprise upon my arrival the staff was friendly and we were given not only a room in a corner but one on the 20th floor with a gorgeous view on Lake Michigan, Navy Pier, the museums, and Grant Park. I was absolutely floored by the view. Our room was a little awkward as I think it doubled a bridal suite / suite? It was awkwardly large with a bed that pulled from the window but like I said overall it was FANTASTIC. Room was large, not necessarily Hilton clean (but it was clean), it had a bar, and an extremely small bathroom. I was able to peek into my neighbor's room and realized that 3 of their rooms could fit into ours!

We had the opportunity to use the gym, pool, and sundeck. AWESOME. Loved it! It was a nice getaway at night to relax.

Other than a few, truly irrelevant aspects. This is an excellent Hilton. It is 2 blocks away from the nearest El, so we had an easy trip from Midway and did not need to haul our luggage across 7 blocks. Staff is friendly, cleaning staff could be better, and having them charge me 3 BUCKS to hold my luggage??? C'mon HIlton...

Would I stay again? Totally. Would I stay at it if I had to pay full price? Probably not.

This is one of those "grand old hotels" like the Plaza or Waldorf in NYC. The lobby is amazing and the hotel is huge. Similarly, the room was small and a little dated, but it did have two full bathrooms, which was a nice touch. The staff was friendly, however, the room was clean, and the bed was very comfortable, and its in a great location, so if you don't mind a little old-=fashioned, then this would be a fine choice.

This hotel has a beautiful entry and rooms facing the lake offer a great view. During my stay in May I left the windows open at night. I was on a high level floor, so the noise wasn't too much. The hotel has a classic historical feel without feeling old and worn out. The food at the pub wasn't great, but made great drinks. I very much enjoyed the lounge at the opposite end of the hotel where you can casually chat sit and sip in front of a beautiful fire place. The concierge was always helpful and the front desk staff very accomodating. I definitely enjoyed my stay.

Room Tip: Water front rooms are worth it! Great view!

Small rooms ... large lobby. Clean but expensive. Cost of breakfast was a little much. Did now get coffee refreshed daily. The check in experience was very good. The bellman was very helpful and gave us comp tickets for breakfast. Thanks, Antonio. We paid for breakfast another day and should have asked the price first. 20 per person for breakfast buffet which was average.

This is an older historical hotel but our room was modern and up to date. The bed was great - nice and fluffy! The noise off of Michigan traffic can be heard. If you are lucky you will get a view of Lake Michigan and the lakeshore. Remodel on the exterior has scaffolding on the sidewalk out front. Good location and walking distance to main attractions. Few little things could be better. We also didn't appreciate the high cost of fitness room. Kind of a normal though with high end hotels. Why? Overall a nice place and recommended for business, couples and families. Friendly staff.

The hotel room was very nice and homey, but the windows weren't very insulated from noise -- I thought maybe they were open because even on the 6th floor the honking horns and car traffic was very clear. The concierce service was great, but we had an issue with the hot tub being broken and the next night they told us it was fixed so we suited up and went to the athletic center to find the doors locked and lights off.
