“A place to hang your hat”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2013

We arrived in Chicago Via Delta A.L. from Fort Lauderdale, nice flight, small jet, taxi to the Hotel, we arrived at 11:00 and had tickets to the last regular season game at Wrigley. I requested an early check in, they never guaranteed it and could not deliver. So they offered to sore our bags and we could check in when we got back, I wanted to check in then and told them we were going to the Cubs game and wouldn't be back until tonight, I knew this would be a mistake and would get the last bottom of the barrel room they had left. That's exactly what I got, being downtown I figured I would have a nice view of something, nope, only the inside of the building and fire escapes. We were exhausted, I went back to the desk and asked to switch rooms, but the Hotel was sold out. The Hotel is old and is in desperate need of some TLC. We had a full plate, between sight seeing and U of Miami vs Notre Dame at Soldier Field, Navy Pier and all the Pizzerias and Italian Beef Restaurants, we would be ok. The location is great, the staff was friendly (their hands were tied), the Chicago Marathon was also going on, this is a NO Frills Hotel, equipped with 1990's tube TV and window shaker A/C. I might stay there again, but I think I might look for an alternate hotel first. The Cubs won, Canes got pummeled, but we had a great time, Chicago is a great city ! Kick Back Have a Cold One and Relax !

It's a Travelodge. Don't expect the Ritz - or even the Marriott. Rooms are tiny but clean. The lobby and hallways show the hotel's age. But compared to other hotels in the Loop, it offer good rates.

If you know your way around Chicago, take the Blue line to LaSalle. The hotel is only a 3 block walk. Don't trust Google maps (or the iPhone app), but you'll find it...

Good news: 24-hour Dunkin Donuts across the street, and a late hour Subway next to it.

Room Tip: The El makes a turn right across the street. You'll want to get a room at the back of the hotel...
