Positives: Lady on reception very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable, made our visit to the windy city better than it would otherwise have been. Good location close to Grant Park, public transport and walking distance to the Magnificent Mile. Cheap. Negatives. OK, you get what you pay for, but surprised Travelodge put heir name to this low standard. Room smelly and carpets dirty and old. Furniture scratched and threadbare. Old TV had blown speakers making it hard to follow Presedential election coverage. (Great days to be in Chicago!) Ancient Ind Revolution era heating system creaked and banged all night long roasting the room when on but equally ancient painted shut single glazed windows let in all the Chicago cold when it was off - their energy bill must be enormous. Chicago a noisy city and the windows let in most of it. Cracked wash basin loose on wall and cracked bathroom tiles. Lift still broken (see prev tripadvisor post). Paint applied by a 5 year old. major refurb urgently needed to lif this to 4 stars.
