“Great view, great hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2014

We loved our stay at the Blackstone. The lobby has been restored to its former glory. Our room was lovely. It's really one of the more beautifully decorated chain hotel rooms I've had. The bed was comfortable, bathroom spacious and our room was very quiet. But the view! Incredible view of Grant Park and Lake Michigan beyond. We had a corner room which also had a view of the Art Institute. As far as the location, we are not that familiar with Chicago but we loved it. Much less crowded than the Miracle Mile properties, and much closer to the museums. The downsides: The historic lobby doesn't seem to be at all handicapped accessible. I think it would even be difficult with a stroller. Bathroom lighting was dark. Bartender at tapas bar was not attentive or friendly. That's okay. The Hilton was right next door with a lively and large bar. We would definitely go back.

We stayed two weekend nights for a HS reunion event. Got a nice room on the 22nd floor with
a great lake view. Room was good size. Beds were very comfortable. Bathroom was large and well
appointed. Downside to the bathroom is the large sliding barn door, which doesn't seal off the
room, and lets you share your finer moments with the person in the other room. We also would
have preferred a regular shower head, and not the rainwater shower that seems to be so in vogue
these days. The Mercat Restaurant in the hotel is first rate.Hotel is well located, a short walk to the fountain, Millenium Park and the Loop. Google the hotel history - it is very interesting.
In sum, one of the nicer hotels we have stayed in, in the USA.

Room Tip: High floor facing the lake

Stayed here for 2 nights in November. The rooms were nice and spacious but not outstanding (typical Renaissance hotel design and doesn't match the historic grandeur of the hotel - I was more expecting "smoke-filled" rooms). Best thing about the room was the breathtaking view of the Chicago Lake and Chicago Skyline at night. Hotel restaurant Mercat a la Planxa is a must-try; it serves excellent Catalan cuisine. Great location, with a short walk to the Field Museum, Chicago Institute of Art, Grant Park, and pretty much everywhere else downtown. There's not much food served in the Executive Lounge, but it gives a nice view of the Willis Tower.

Room Tip: Ask for an upgrade to high-floor, park view rooms if possible.

The hotel is in good location. It is about 10 minutes walking distance to the millennium park. It also takes about 10 minutes to walk to adler museum. The room is clean. The housekeeper forgot some cleaning tools in the bathroom after she cleaned the room.

Room Tip: Try to ask for a top floor that has a nice view to see the lake from your room

Husband and I stayed here with our 2 children for 2 nights while visiting family. The rooms were nice, but we didn't spend any time in the hotel so I can't speak to the other amenities. Great location for walking along the Lake front.

I remember the old Blackstone Hotel quite well. Actually, this was my second stay there. The first one being a few years ago. I stayed there again just before Memorial Day. Marriott has done an exquisite job of blending of the old and new to create a beautiful and outstanding hotel with outstanding customer service. For some reason I was so fascinated with the old tiles in the elevators with a "B" in the center. Before I stayed there another family member was remembering it from years long past and a few days later they were there in the elevator!

The weather so so wonderful during our stay that we got up early and started walking to long after sunset so we didnt eat at the hotel but definitely plan to during our next stay.

The hotel and staff is certainly at the absolute top of customer service in so many ways. It was a delightful experience. We just wish we could have tweaked in a couple of more days there.

I have stayed at many fine hotels, but the Blackstone is in a league of it's own. Great location. The suite is heaven. I happen to be in a corner suite on the 15th floor. It's roomy and decorated with modern bookcase, desk, and huge bathroom. Great walk in shower. The breakfast in the Hubbard Lounge is delicious. Eggs, big country pieces of bacon, cereal, oatmeal, oj, coffee, and pastries. My view of the lake is amazing. I definitely plan to be back.

Room Tip: Right at the corner of Michigan and Balboa. Also looked on Wikipedia and saw several films have been...
