“Great location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2012

We stayed here for the final leg of our honeymoon and LOVED the location! Directly in front of the hotel is Millenium Park, and further out is the lake. The location allowed us to walk to WIllis (Sear's) Tower, the Navy Piew, and Shedd Aquarium. The room and bathroom were very spacious, and the bed was very comfortable but we didn't like the shower (no door to shut, therefore you had to pump up the hot water), the only choice for parking was valet at $55/night (whether you used your car or not) and if you purchase the internet it is only 24 hours from noon to noon (we didn't realize this and purchased the internet at 8:30am only to have it disconnected a few hours later, we assumed it would be a full 24 hours). They informed me we could go ahead an order the internet again and not be charged but it showed during checkout, we then explained the situation again and she said she took it off but again are seeing the fee in pending transactions on our credit card. You would think a hotel of this level would offer it for free!

We asked when we arrived for any honeymoon specials (seeing some people who wrote reviews here were upgraded) but she looked at us like we were crazy, not even a congratulations! Haha :)

Most importantly, the room was very clean, and in a nice and safe area!

I stayed at the Renaissance Blackstone Chicago Hotel while attending a conference at the McCormick Center and was impressed. The hotel is in a very old building however the rooms were up to date, comfortable and had obviously gone through a recent renovation. The bathroom was especially impressive with an open style shower and very nice black and white tile.

The location is perfect if you know how to use the CTA. I was able to only spend $14 for a three day pass and get everywhere for the entire trip. It is a short walk to the “L” so no need to take a cab from the airport or to get over to Navy Pier. The hotel is also just a short walk to the Museum campus which includes the Adler Planetarium, the Shedd Aquarium and the Field Museum of Natural History.

I didn’t utilize the restaurants during this trip so can’t comment on the food but the service from check in to check out was great and I will certainly stay at the Renaissance again next time I am in Chicago.

My husband and I spent a long weekend in Chicago in September 2011 and stayed at the Blackstone on points - I would go there again in a heartbeat. Great location - a bit south of most of the Michigan Ave. hustle and bustle, but that was fine with us. Directly across the street from Grant Park. Easy access both on foot and by El to anywhere you'd want to be in the city. We had a lovely corner room facing the lake with the side window looking up Michigan Avenue - what amazing views! The room wasn't huge, but was very nicely appointed. The staff could not have been more helpful. We loved the history of the building as well. It was everything that you could want in a hotel stay - keep up the good work.

Room Tip: If you can get a room facing the lake you will enjoy a million-dollar view.

This is an old hotel, which has been renovated as a Marriott Renaissance. It is lovely. The rooms are large and well appointed. If you can get on the club level..you are set! Best club room I have experienced in a long time. The hotel also has a great location. The staff was very pleasant.

Finding a great room in a great city for a good price is sometimes a challenge, making tradeoffs between location, quality, amenities and cleanliness necessary. Fortunately, for those interested in visiting Chicago, particularly those wanting good proximity to the museums and Grant Park, the Blackstone represents a tradeoff-free experience.

This is a grand old property, with modern and spacious rooms. Highlights are quality bedroom and bath fixtures and fittings, cleanliness, reliable staff, Starbucks in the building, easy walking to major tourist attractions.

The only nit I had in my stay was a less-than-ideal shower. This is a very small nit considering the overall experience, but worth noting. No tub, a shower with a rainfall (read:gravity) showerhead, and a shower door arrangement consisting of a half closed (fixed glass panel) and half open (no panel) shower area. So there is no way to close off the shower and its humidity from the rest of the bathroom, and vice versa.

I would gladly stay here again, and will seek out similarly pleasant hotels in other big cities. It will be tough to match this combination of key attributes.

Me and my boyfriend stayed at the Blackstone Renaissance hotel in Chicago....It was nothing but perfect. The bathroom was huge!!!! I had room to lay out my makeup, towels and other things. It was very spacious. The location is great, it's next to some yummy Sushi places. The room is very big and the bed was so comfortable. I would stay there again in a heartbeat! Great Hotel, you will not be disappointed. Also, the service is great. The doormen are very nice.
