“The tastiest and most original combinations burgers with a little Metallica in the background ....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013 via mobile

If you are into tasty jumbo sized burgers with excellent and very original toppings, and you don't mind a little bit of heavy metal rock (not live) in the background-- I recommend Kuma's hands down. As appetizer order their mac and cheese with mushrooms and prosciutto ham...delicious.

“Must go to!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2013

After seeing Kuma's Corner on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives and hearing it recommended by my cousins, we went! It was outstanding...I hear the burgers are to die for (not a burger eater myself) but I went with the Mac & Cheese..which you can pick from a large selection of items to add to it. It was heaven and huge portion, so be prepared to share or take home. Best advice if you are going on a Saturday or Sunday get there around 2 or 3...anytime after 4 it is packed..we waited about an hour and some change, getting there around 4:30.

“Worth the long wait! GREAT burgers!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013

So, if waiting almost two hours for a burger while listening to metal is what you want to do on a Saturday then...Kuma's is for you! But seriously, the food is worth it. You just have to know what you're getting yourself into on the weekend.

It is tiny and so is the kitchen, so you'll be waiting a bit for everything. BUT! Your taste buds will thank you! I would go for the Kuma original because, well...you gotta try their flagship burger. The fries are super awesome! The servers are very nice, but just don't expect to be treated like king here: this is a rock place, they do not take s*** from anybody, and...they get more than enough business so losing yours won't be anything for them.

Just go, and enjoy! But, I hope you like metal and standing up! If not, don't go on Saturdays. The hostess told us it's the craziest time of the week.

“Waste of time, unless you like mac and cheese”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2013

OK, so the lines are out the door and 'round the corner. Guess what folks: they only have like 8 tables ... and only 2 tables will seat 5 people, and they seat in order of arrival so if 2 people came in before you, you'll watch them sit at one of the only two tables for 5 ... meaning you could be waiting a really long time. And you'll have to go outside because you can't hear your dining companions unless they are breathing directly into your ear....
OK, so maybe the ambiance isn't so good ... but the food must be worth it, right?
It's a burger folks. And probably not that great a burger if they have to top it with all kinds of stuff to make it amazing. Shouldn't a burger be about the ... burger? I mean, the beef, right? How can you taste the beef when it's got all that stuff on it? They don't have just a "burger" on the menu (you can ask for it, a plain ole burger, or plain ole cheeseburger ... but it isn't on the menu, which tells me they don't really want you to order that - and if you do, you still pay for the toppings included in the "Kuma's Burger".... )
So our party of 5, famished & tired after waiting 30 or so minutes and after watching the two potential 5 person tables be filled with deuces ... and then being told we had another hour's wait [at least] ... managed to get ourselves seated in a long row at the bar. Kudos to the bartender for tossing the group of drinkers who were waiting for a table so that we could dine at the bar) ... we cheerfully gave our orders thinking we'd eat soon and escape the headbanging band blaring across the bar ... little did we know that we were in for yet another wait ... out of control with hunger 45 minutes later when the bartender served a giant order of mac and cheese to the couple next to us, we lamented that we had not order one of those ... only to be informed that since they had not started on our order yet, we could add one to the order.... It was then that we discovered the second secret to the long lines at Kumas Corner - the seem to make one order at a time ... no wonder they have lines out the door - if my family had to wait while I made one hamburger at a time at home, I'd have lines out my kitchen door, too.
Chicago has so many great places - if you are visiting, don't waste your precious time in this amazing city waiting for a burger here.
(I must say though, kudos again to the barkeep for her great mac and cheese suggestion: garlic, corn, jalapeno and bacon ... it was pretty phenomenal.)

“Hold your ears but open your mouth”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2013 via mobile

Long lines & loud music shouldn't deter you from the best burgers In Chicago. It 's small inside with big flavor a on the burgers. Hood selection of beers- wine choice is "red or white" but drinkable.
