My friend and I stayed in the Tuscan Inn which had 2 beds (one also had a trundle), was roomy, clean and comfortable. The decor was great and they had direct tv and wifi. A small fridge was nice to keep drinks cold and keep leftovers. Also provides an iron/board. It has private entrance with a great little patio/seating area just outside which we loved being smokers. We just made sure to pick up our butts. The area is BEAUTIFUL. Lots of character. Many people walking around, joggers, bikers, etc. Close to bars, food, entertainment and shopping. Walgreens and bus stop just around the corner.
The L was quite loud when outside but sounded like a truck driving by when inside the room. Never woke me up once. The room had a nice book with Inn information, pamphlets for area hotspots. The common/breakfast room had take out menus, more pamphlets and a good continental breakfast. For heartier breakfast fare there are places very close by. The staff/owners were friendly and helpful.
We ate at the Earwax Cafe (mostly vegan food), the Alliance Bakery (awesome scone), and Moonshine Bar (quesadilla was yummy). Currency Exchange you can get a 3 day CTA pass for $14.

Ignore the people who wrote negative reviews, unless you are terribly fussy and want the Ritz experience. I stayed here because of the neighborhood but was pleasantly surprised at how nice and roomy our room was. I am the type who likes to be left alone while I'm busy in a big city, so appreciated that the B&B owners did not expect us to sit at breakfast and chat with them all morning. Like I said, I picked the hotel because of the neighborhood -- all the bars, restaurants, and shopping you could want, plus within two blocks of the Division St. or North Ave. busses and the Blue Line el. The street that the hotel is on is very quiet and pretty, and our room was awesome (Tuscan room) -- like being at home but still on vacation. The room was clean, comfortable and completely reasonably priced. The el isn't especially loud -- yes, you can hear it, but its not rattling the pictures or anything. There was also a nice little courtyard to sit and drink coffee in in the morning. The breafast is not fancy, but there were very good pastries from a local bakery, fresh fruit, and strong coffee. Chicago has some of the best food in the world, so not filling up before lunch is a good thing in my book. Parking is plentiful and free, which was also another reason to stay here (versus $50 a night for parking at a downtown hotel). Most importantly, you get to experience how people actually live in Chicago here, rather than getting the weird la-la land of Mag Mile, where everyone is a tourist and the restaurants/shops cater to that.

We have just returned from a 3 week trip to the US starting in Chicago and staying at the above B&B. I think you should be aware that this is an awful place to stay. Apart from the exhorbitant charges which were the highest of anywhere we stayed during our 3 weeks it is definitely NOT value for money.
We knew the bedroom wasn't en-suite but the details state 'across the corridor' which would have been fine but in fact it was across the dining room so to go to the shower/toilet in the morning it was either get up very early before anyone was at breakfast or go across the dining room in ones dressing gown.
The place was very dirty.
The breakfasts were a joke, 2 bagels, 1 Grapefruit, 2 strawberries and 2 rolls cut up for 10 people, the cereal ran out the 1st day and were not replaced and the bread to make toast was not replenished.
The person who owns this should not be in this trade, he is very ignorant, on the couple of occasions we saw him he completly ignored us. We have friends who run a bed & breakfast here in UK and part of the service is to speak to your customers even if it was to greet and say good-bye but he ignored all who were staying there.
We have spent many holidays travelling around the US and have stayed in many B&B's, motels, hotels etc and I can safely say this is the worst.

Great experience! Laura and Mikky are wonderful hosts, very willing to accomodate any special needs. Tuscan Room is very comfortable. Noise could be a problem for some light sleepers as the stairs/common area are directly above, but this was not a significant problem for us. Great location in a beautiful and vibrant neighborhood, convenient to bus/train. Will stay again!

My friend and I stayed in the Tuscan Room at the Wicker Park Inn the weekend of Veterans Day. We were delighted with the room - very cozy, warm, wonderfully decorated. The inn keeper was very helpful with restaurant reccomendations, places to see and a good description of the area. Will definitely stay here again!
