“Christmas trip 2012”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 24, 2012

This was our second time at the B&B and it was just as wonderful as it was in our previous trip this spring. The rooms are large, clean and beautifully decorated and the service is wonderful. And the breakfasts are delicious, hot and fresh.

Room Tip: The King room at the bed and breakfast is in a separate building and you have access to a full kitch...

When traveling we try to stay in accommodation that has a private kitchen facility so that we can prepare our own meals so we rented a full apartment at the House of Two Urns. Not only did it have a clean, fully equipped kitchen it had much, much more. Comfortable quiet sleeping rooms, television and movies to watch, comfortable living room, very clean bathrooms, easy access to downtown Chicago by subway, close local shopping, good neighbourhood restaurants and friendly, helpful hosts. Loved the welcoming fully decorated Christmas tree and the artwork!

I had to come to Chicago for a conference at the end of some vacation, and I always prefer more individual places to the big conference hotels. Again a good choice! We had the most enjoyable stay and wished we would be able to stay longer ... After TSA breaking my suitcase on the flight from Phoenix, we were happy about the easy trip on the Blue Line to Division with only a few minutes walk from there. What a warm welcome! We stayed in the Eastlake room which was fine for two. The room is small but there's a large kitchen with refrigerator and table you can use right next to it, and the wireless also works well. Kapra was so helpful (also for me getting an new suitcase), the breakfast superb, and the location with the metro and a bus line straight to the Old Town Chicago is great. Whenever I'll have the chance to return I will, be it on a business trip or for a few days off.

Room Tip: You can check every room on the internet to see what suits you -- for us the Eastlake was fine.

I stayed in the Alcova room with a good friend while visiting Chicago for a couple of days. My favorite part of the inn was the breakfast! They were delicious. Meals included french toast with fruit, delicious muffins of several varieties including rhubarb-walnut, and Mexican eggs with soy chorizo! If you do not want the special foods, there is toast, fruit, yogurt, and granola available. You do have to set your breakfast time the night before, but that was easy. Expect to spend at least 30 minutes or more at breakfast. The Alcova room was on the top floor and was charming. There were two very comfortable queen beds plus a twin, making this room potentially good for a family, although I believe there is an age restriction for children. The only thing very odd about the room was that you enter through the bathroom. While ultimately this did not matter, we were a little concerned that if one of us had left the room we might walk in on the other in the bathroom. Obviously, one can knock, but it was a bit disconcerting of a design. It was also tricky to find the lights if you had to get up in the night--a nightlife or a small flashlight would have been helpful. But these are very minor quibbles! The room was full of books and I enjoyed browsing the shelves, though I did not have time to read due to exploring Chicago. The inn is about two blocks from a blue line train that will take you down to the loop and you can transfer if going elsewhere. The host gave us info on places we might want to visit, and they also give you a list of local restaurants. Also, a free parking spot was included with the Alcova room. The back entrance is a bit awkward, but manageable although people with mobility issues should definitely check ahead before booking. I highly recommend this place!

My husband and I stayed here one night. We stayed in the Les Chats room, which was economical, but maybe not a great stay if you will be spending any time aside from sleeping there (very small). Also, the doors are not solid wood, and the glass panels are covered with lace curtains. We had to lock all of our valuables in the closet as the doors to the room couldn't be locked from the outside. I found this rather inconvenient. Breakfast was delicious in the morning!

Simply the best one I've ever visited, worldwide. And I've seen a few. You can see that Kapra and Miguel - the owners - have been striving for perfection, and have achieved it. Thanks for such a pleasant stay!

A very special, individually decorated B&B that pampers its guests with delicious breakfasts and generous public spaces. The location in an artsy corner of Chicago called Wicker Park is well connected by public transport to downtown tourist sites (15 minute bus ride) and O'Hare airport (45 minutes door-to-door on the Blue Line subway). Wicker Park is fun to explore on foot, offering unusual shops (Vintage fans, you must visit Milwaukee Avenue), shabby-chic watering holes and many excellent, reasonably priced ethnic restaurants within walking distance of Two Urns. As a woman traveling on my own, I felt completely comfortable in the neighborhood. I stayed in the colorful, quirky, well-equipped Alice Room for a week, enjoyed every minute of it, and will definitely return when I am next in The Windy City.

Room Tip: Rooms in the main house have access to a beautifully furnished living room, a top floor lounge, a co...
