“Like "a home away from home," in perfect location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013 via mobile

In October of 2012, we had the good fortune to find this lovely B&B in choice location. With much more elegance than neighboring hotels, it provided an ideal home base while visiting the Windy City. No need to look further if you're lucky enough to get a room. My best wishes to the owners and hope to return some day.

We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend at Flemish House, which is a renovated home with guest apartments. What a great idea for those who enjoy self-sufficiency when they travel! We stayed in the back room of the second floor which has a large walk in closet, a galley size fully-operational kitchen and a huge main room with a sitting area. We loved the idea of having a continental breakfast at our leisure in the morning -- everything you need is provided the night before. The location is perfect - just steps away from lake, Mag Mile, dozens of restaurants and the red line. Mike was our host that weekend and he gave us lots of great tips on getting around. We look forward to returning in the summer!

Room Tip: There are a lot of stairs between floors, so if you have trouble with this then choose a ground leve...

I recently spent 3 nights here following a conference in the States. The room on the 2nd floor at the back was huge, quiet and well decorated. The position of the house was excellent- only a few minutes walk to the lake, Magnificent Mile shopping area and an area with lots of restaurants and nightlife- I would have needed weeks to see everything.
As a lone female traveller, I felt very safe in the area and it was nice to come "home" to a big room rather than sit in a pokey hotel room. The hosts were very helpful but non-intrusive.
Loved Chicago- the architecture, the shopping and all the amazing things to see- will have to bring my husband back!!

Room Tip: Room at the back on the 2nd floor was large and quiet.

First, as you can tell by their site, these owners are thorough. I wasn't aware of the licensing of B&Bs in Chicago and the info on this site was good to know. Second, you will not need a vehicle to get around if you choose to stay here. There are several excellent restaurants close by, the very best shopping, and Lake Michigan!

This historic building has beautiful high ceilings and comfy beds and linens. Although it's steps away from the buzz, the house is situated toward the end of a quiet residential street. And I love having a stove, sink, and a fridge full of breakfast in my own room. You will not find a nicer place to stay in this part of town for this price, I promise.

My husband and I decided to drive up from Indianapolis to Chicago for a 5-night stay. We were seeing plays, a musical and the ballet, so we wanted a central location and something quieter than a big hotel. The house was lovely and very comfortable. The owners are very attentive and helpful. We were able to walk to quite a lot of places that we wanted to visit, or just take a short cab ride. We definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to be in the center of the city with a quiet, relaxing home base.

Room Tip: We were upgraded to the two-bedroom suite on the top, because it was the only room available. We did...

This was a lovely and quiet B&B in a fantastic location. The bed was very comfortable, and the kitchenette was nice and stocked with breakfast every morning. Though our stay was very nice, I only gave 3 stars because I do not believe it was worth the price of $275 per night. It was a cold weekend, and they had just turned on the radiators. Unfortunately it was not enough to keep us warm, and the in-room space heater blew cold air. It reminded us of home, but for that price we would rather have enjoyed a nice warm hotel room!

We'd like to thank this guest for taking the time to post a comment. We are so sorry they weren't comfortable with the air temperature in their apartment...if only they had told us....we would have been happy to check the working order of the in-room HVAC unit. We live on premises and are always available to deal with these kinds of issues.

What a wonderful spot for home base--right in the neighborhood. We needed an extra bed & rollaway was quite comfortable & we still had plenty of room. ! Slept so well because it was very quiet on this street-- yet 3 blocks away & you're in the thick of things. We walked everywhere! Great hosts made us feel at home but didn't intrude. Very private. This will be our home away from home in Chicago....& we plan to return
