“Chicago the Beautiful - Hampton Inn Majestic's Personal Touch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2013

Spent the last week of August 2013 touring Chicago. Stayed at the Hampton Inn Majestic - Theatre District (hotel and area very quiet at night) and could not be happier with the total package. It's a small hotel above the Majestic Theatre, centrally located downtown. The room is a good size with a coffee maker. It's décor is burnt orange and brown, but the room is not drab because of the large windows. Beds and pillows very comfortable. Clean towels (plentiful) every day. Large TV. Basic hotel room I guess. Front desk personnel definitely pointed us in the right direction based on what we wanted to tour. To begin, their recommendation was the Chicago Trolley & Double Decker Co. (hop on and off). It features five tours, one of which is the City Lights Night Tour; others take you to the North, South, West, and, of course, downtown & we received a discounted ticket, which is good for three consecutive days. Best deal. Plan accordingly and you'll see everything as well as use this for transportation around downtown days and nights. The hotel provides free breakfast, a Breakfast to Go bag, if desired, and homemade cookies early evening; two huge fruit bowls and coffee/tea, etc., station 24 hours. Because the weather was in the 80s, hotel gave us water bottles upon request. They also provided printouts of places we walked to. The chambermaids and kitchen staff were very pleasant and helpful--always smiling. The evening before check out, the manager called us to see if we had any concerns or suggestions to improve their services. Also, hotel honors AAA, so we received an excellent rate. Lastly, the Book of Mormon (fabulous) was playing at the Majestic Theatre and it holds a lottery two hours before every performance. We saw it for $25 each. Chicago is a really great city and Wrigley Field is worth seeing a game there, if in season. (Cubs lost.) Con: You'll run into all ages holding "homeless" signs on every corner of State Street.

Room Tip: No views but we were given a room next to an office building that reflects our hotels exterior. Hote...

First, the staff at this hotel is top-rate. Oscar is the reason we stayed here (I couldn't decide between 2 different locations) and he was very nice and helpful onsite! Janessa checked us in very quickly. Brandi was super friendly and helpful the whole time- even helped us get the best deal when we added another night! The manager and other staff- even the valet guys- treated us as if we were important guests.

The room was not huge (but didn't expect that downtown anyway), but was very clean, comfortable bed, nice/large bathroom and it was QUIET for sleeping as well!

The breakfast was one of the best I've seen, and I stay at a lot of hotels. The food was stocked through the 10am time. The staff was efficient at refilling items, etc...

The location is perfect - just a few blocks from Millenium Park and Grant Park. It was also very close to the Chicago River and about a 40 minute walk to Navy Pier. We took the red line to a Cubs game with no problem at all.

Obviously such a great time that we added another night at the last minute - didn't want to leave!

Room Tip: We booked online with Hilton and got double points for each night. Also got top floor.

This hotel was right next door to the theatre and very close to the Art Institute. Tickets for the Institute could be purchased at the desk as well as tickets to the Shedd Aquarium. Great restaurants also within walking distance and a very short trip to Union Station. Everyone on the staff was attentive and friendly. The room was very clean and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again!

First, I would like say that it was so easy to take a train from the airport to 1/2 block from the hotel. As soon as we arrived, the staff were so friendly and helpful! There were delicious cookies and fruits waiting for us. Complimentary breakfast was great! It is so easy to walk anywhere in the city if you enjoy doing that from the hotel. You can also jump on a bus or subway within a 1/2 block of hotel. I would highly recommend this hotel for business or pleasure! The rooms were cleaning and the beds were so comfortable to sleep on. I can't wait to go back!

We loved this boutique-like hotel! Its location is perfect for sight-seeing, and the hotel staff and rooms were top-notch. True to the Hampton reputation, breakfast was always good--nice variety and hot items included daily. We went to the Majestic Theater, and what a surprise it was to simply walk from the hotel's ground floor into the theater's lobby! Close to museums, Willis Tower, and superb restaurants. There is no restaurant, but there were dozens of affordable, high-quality options within walking distance. There is no swimming pool, but we didn't spend much time at the hotel due to all the sight-seeing opportunities.

Room Tip: Because this hotel is in a downtown building, there is no traditional lobby. It's almost like an...

Green Features: We appreciated the fact that we could re-use our towels and save energy on laundry. We also asked that our sheets only be laundered upon our check-out, and that request was honored.

Hotel was wonderful, and the staff excellent. Pleased with the room and location. Good dinning options within walking distance. Shopping is close on State Street and Michigan Ave. Nice area for breakfest and perfect hotel if going to Book of Morman.
