Came here for a work trip. There were several pros: 1) location is great 2) included breakfast buffet each morning is ample and convenient 3) the service overall was friendly. 4) good value. All that said, I wouldn't proactively come back here. The main reason is that the rooms were blah and dark. I don't normally like to spend too much time in the room while in Chicago, but it was the week before Christmas and I needed to finish holiday stuff online. I started to order room service but decided to go across the street to the wine bar with my computer as the atmosphere was much better than the dark & generic hotel room. (that said it was clean!). With some room updates & a bit more lighting, this place could reach its full potential, but it's not there yet.

Bottom line: General Manager Ross Guthrie and his team provide legendary customer service. Other reviews highlight the incomparable location of this property - for me, this hotel was home for two weeks during a job transition to Chicago. I couldn't have hoped for a better experience.

Everything about my trip to Chicago and the Hampton exceeded my expectations. The location was perfect: above the theater where me and my girls saw a show, surrounded by plenty of places to shop and eat, and also right by the L in case you want to head to Michigan Ave or down to the Aquarium. And after a long day of enjoying Chicago, the beds were incredible to come back to. The breakfast was well stocked with lots of variety each day, and was accompanied by friendly staff to answer any questions you might have. I also must say that the security measures taken for guests made me feel very safe and comforted to know that not just anyone can enter at night, you must have a room key. Overall, I'm not sure there was one bad part about this hotel, and I plan to stay there the next time I travel to Chicago.

No complaints about this great hotel. Staff friendly and helpful. 24 hour coffee, free breakfast and wifi. Rooms, a bit on the small size, were fresh, clean and updated. Bathroom was spacious. Located between State Street shopping and Loop businesses it was easy to catch the red or blue line subway. If you were coming from O'Hare you could take the EL and skip the taxi.

Don't even have to go outside to enter Bank of America Theatre (Book of Mormon playing now) and there were ample opportunities to purchase tickets at the box office or sellers outside. Park, art museum minutes away. If you desire to stay in the Loop, this is a fantastic choice.
