My sisters and I met this year in Chicago for our annual "sisters' weekend." Wanting a place where we could spread out and feel at home, we decided to book an apartment rather than a hotel or even a hotel suite. China Doll was absolutely the perfect choice. The 2-bedroom apartment was spacious and homey (one of us slept on the futon in the living room). We were also able to prepare a couple of meals in the gourmet kitchen described by each of us as "much, much nicer than our own." We joked about having a party at the apartment since it was so much like home. Perhaps the most luxurious feature of the apartment was the bathroom. Marble floors, tile, a huge bathtub/shower with jets, aromatherapy, and 4 plush bathrobes in the closet were only a few of the fine features. The apartment was spotless; the decor was tasteful; and there were many fabulous "extras"-- everything from filled candy jars in each of the bedrooms to a complete office space with free internet and printer. The location of China Doll is perfect for either a business traveler working in the city or a small group interested in sightseeing. If you walk half a block, you can catch city buses into downtown Chicago. Shops and restaurants in the trendy Lincoln Park neighborhood are literally steps away. As a great alternative to a hotel stay in Chicago, the China Doll is on my list of return venues for future visits to the Windy City. It's a home away from home-- literally.
