“Always Hot”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2014

Hot chocolate is a great, fun place to eat. All of the food is from local farmers and our party enjoyed everything. BUT, save room for dessert. Excellent choices coupled with many varieties of hot chocolate big enough to share. Would go back again.

“Don't Skip Dessert!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2013

My boyfriend and I decided on this restaurant because we had a discount card through A La Card. We originally were just going to go for dessert and hot chocolate, but ended up being pretty hungry by the time we got there, so we decided to do full dinner. Just an FYI, if you do a reservation for just dessert, there is a note on the menu that it is a $15 minimum per purchase.

The menu changes seasonally. It's a very interesting menu, but not very big, which I don't necessarily consider a bad thing though because better to do a few things great than many things mediocre. It is, however, quite pricey. Since we knew we were going to get dessert and hot chocolate and didn't want to spend a fortune, we both got the burger. Though it was one of the cheaper items on the menu, it was delicious! Cooked to order with bacon and aged chedder (my boyfriend got an egg on top for an extra $2). I'm not usually a fan or large buns and usually end up leaving most of the bun on the plate, but this bun was so good that my boyfriend mentioned what I was thinking before I said anything--he had a piece of the bun leftover once the meat was gone, and he couldn't let it go to waste! It was also served was a really delicious dijon on the side, and that's a statement coming from someone who really doesn't like dijon.

When it came time for dessert and hot chocolate, we new exactly what drinks we wanted, but everything looked great on the food menu. We decided on the banana trio which included a banana bread pudding, banana coffee cake with sorbet, and banana ice cream sandwich. It was very good, particularly the bread pudding. I ordered the Medium hot chocolate, which was part milk and part dark plus some caramel. It was really good, but very, very sweet. Next time I might go for the straight Dark. My boyfriend got the Mexican, which was dark chocolate with cayenne and cinnamon. This had a strong, distinct flavor, but was also very good. Much less sweet than my choice. They both come with house made marshmallows, which were awesome.

The reason I'm not going to give this 5 stars is because it is a bit pricey. Our meal would have been just over $55 without the discount card, but had we got anything other than the burgers, it would have been closer to $80. The main entrees started at around $20.

The medium (milk chocolate, touch of dark, hint of caramel) hot chocolate served with a house-made marshmallow - goodnight!

“Great food and hot chocolate is good too”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2013

10 of us all seated at the time we reserved! Everything from delicious fried chicken, savory soups, duck and risotto. The desserts are simple with a great twist. Something for everyone - we met the chef and owner . She had time for us and was interested in what brought us there. Great experience. Not a huge place but can serve intimate dinners and make everyone feel special.
