“Nice food, decent prices”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2012

This place was a nice "pick-me-up" har har. The espresso was great: i had an iced americano. They were spot on. I also had the buffalo tofu wrap with fries. It was good, super good. The total only ended up coming to $14 which was pretty surprising for this district. However, before going I was under the impression that it was going to be all vegan. Disappointed to see a lot of meat on the menu, which lowered my selection. Overall, yummy.

“Fun and varied menu, especially after a Cubs game!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2012

Met 2 friends here for late lunch before going to Wrigley - love the relaxed, but colorful vibe, and the diner-with-a-twist menu. We got the skordalia (a suitably garlicky Greek spread with veggies & pita) and the Magic Caps (mushrooms filled with tomato sauce, melted mozzarella, and I think some veggie sausage, plus a pile of onion rings). And their iced mochas are to die for.
Then, after the game, we wanted to decompress, and Pick Me Up was still open, so we all went there for dessert! Well, I split both the Humboldt County scramble (for some veggies & protein) and a 4Berry shake. My mom took half her giant slice of cake home, and my cousin's Espresso sundae, while more liquid than she expected, was delightfully huge. We all got just what we wanted, in a nice quirky-Chicago atmosphere.

“Perfect breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2012

In clean, yet ecclectic & artsy hole-in-the-wall surroundings, we found the best breakfast in Chicago here at the Pick me Up cafe. The service was friendly, if not a little slow - but this was just a couple of hours before a Cubs game down the street, so a pass was given. The four of us in our party were first taken with the menu descriptions of the food - which I'm reasonably sure you'll not find anywhere else. Next, it became clear that this was not a greasy spoon, but a fresh food gem tucked into the bar district in Wrigleyville. After our order was taken it wasn't long before the food was delivers to us, and our suspicions were confirmed - the freshest ingredients and great care were used in creating our plates. All of our first bites were followed by the telling groans of satisfaction and little more was said until all of our plates were cleaned. The various omlettes they offer are acronymically named (I had the GORP omlette - goat cheese, onion, red pepper). Add to this the coffe, which is more than passable, and the prices, which rival any corporate Dennys - and you have yourself breakfast Nirvana. If you ever have the chance to stop here - take it.

“For carnivores & vegans both”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2012

Has good vegan options, had the chili & fries. Prompt service and less crowded (at least at lunch) than Chicago Diner.

“Great breakfast!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2012

We ate here around 10am on a Sunday - no wait/line. Fresh food. The huevos rancheros and omelets were fantastic. Service was very attentive. Breakfast potatoes seemed a bit cold, but other than that, it was very good, and a good value.
