“Excellent Hotel in Excellent Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

We stayed three nights at the Comfort Suites and had a fantastic stay. After reading some of the more negative reviews, I can only say that we experienced none of the things mentioned and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our room was clean and spacious and well equipped with a full kitchen and separate living/bedroom which had a washing machine and dryer in it. The staff were friendly and very helpful and we felt welcome as soon as we arrived. The location was amazing, in the centre of everything with loads of options for dining within walking distance. We only had breakfast one of the mornings we were there and yes, it was basic, but it's more than most hotels offer! I definitely recommend this hotel and will be staying here again the next time I'm in Chicago.

I was in Chicago earlier this month for a four day conference. I chose the Comfort Suites on Michigan Ave. because it was close to my conference (easy walk) and because I have a back condition that require frozen ice packs nightly and this hotel has refrigerator/freezers in each room.

The location was perfect for my conference (at the Summit Conference Center down the street) as I could walk the block and a half each day even if it snowed (it didn't). The freezer was not much of a freezer and my ice packs were just cold, not frozen.

Before going into the negatives, let me say that the staff at this hotel are very nice and accommodating (as other reviewers have noted). They really are the best asset.

The hotel is old, tired and in desperate need of a stem-to-stern remodel of EVERYTHING. The lobby is not warm or inviting, the breakfast area is an afterthought and not where I want to be, the halls are institutional and the rooms...

The rooms are so bland and boring it's depressing to be there. And when you have to spend four or five nights in these rooms, you're ready to jump out of the window. Besides being clean, there's nothing good to say about the rooms. The shower pressure is non-existent and there's a frequent, loud water hammer noise from bad plumbing.

The thermostat was terrible. Even a millimeter adjustment would result in 10 solid minutes of blasting heat and noise so bad that I just gave up and put on a coat. The TV remotes were in bad need of new batteries (one of my pet peeves).

The lighting in the rooms is also very poor. They rely on these 70's era track lights that make you feel like you're in a bad dream from that time. I was on the 13th floor and every morning, I was awakened at 4 am by the trash truck in the alley below.

Getting the picture?

I will not be staying at the Comfort Suites again.

Room Tip: Don't let them put you over the alley or you'll be awakened by the trash truck every morning...

We went for a friends 50th Birthday weekend.
We took the Train from Michigan city. The walk to hotel was not long. We wanted 2 rooms close to each other. We checked in early so agreed to rooms on the second floor. The view was concrete and walls, room was a little worn.
I'm sure if we would of checked in later we would of had better rooms but the room was clean, had a microwave and small refrigerator.
The location to Water Tower, Navy Pier, shopping, shopping, shopping was nice.
I would stay here again but ask for room on the higher levels. The good thing about being on the second floor was not having to wait for the elevator.

Room Tip: Request room on higher levels.

The place is only three or four blocks from the blue line, partner and I took the blue line from O'hare and it was a breeze.
Upon arrival we were attended by a lovely lady, all smiles and with a nice attitude, we arrived at 11:30 am and were charged $15 for early check in, we agreed to it, it was cold and we needed to head to the court house right away, few blocks away too. Our suite was 902, excellent view of the city and Millennium park, the room was clean and bed was very comfortable, this suite is prefect for a week stay or so, it has a small kitchen and washer and dryer that will make a long stay a comfortable one, breakfast was included in our rate and it was just right to start the day, you will find yourself in the middle of the action in Downtown Chicago, PERFECT LOCATION and nice hotel fro the price paid, for sure a great value, we stayed only one night but it was great....yes you can hear the traffic from your rom but if you are staying in Downtown the noise is a giving, this is not a FIVE stars hotel, but is a nice surprise for the budgeted traveler, my partner and I were happy to stay there and will visit back soon.

The view was very nice as we were upgraded to a room that overlooked Michigan Avenue. The staff were helpful and very polite. The rooms are big but they are desperately in of need updating. I will say even though the room needed updating the pull out couch was in good condition. They need more space for breakfast and staff to support it. The free wifi access was not great it kept dropping connection.

Room Tip: Find out out what floor best supports wifi.

Loved this hotel and the price! Only stayed for one night, but it is located right in the heart of Chicago on Michigan Avenue. The staff that checked us in were so nice (can't remember their name) and the staff in the morning were so nice as well (Tian). I was pleasantly surprised how enormous the rooms were and I had no idea they came with washer/dryer and a mini kitchen including an apartment sized fridge, dishwasher, sink, microwave, and actual dishes and glasses. There was also plenty of closet space and if you had a family - room enough for a crib or rollaway. They also had a nice breakfast selection and check out isn't until 12:00 pm.

I would absolutely stay here again!

Room Tip: 1801 is huge with a view of Michigan Avenue!

This hotel is centrally located on Nth Michigan Avenue between the Magnificent Mile and Millennium Park and the Art Institute. The staff are very friendly and attentive. We stayed here with our two teenage daughters and while the room was a bit small, we were comfortable.and clean. The breakfast was a cost saving but a bit ordinary.. There is a fully equipt kitchen if you prefer to self cater and a Wallgreens 50 metres away.
