“Skip It”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2013 via mobile

Not very good, not very original. Was served hot and drinks were good. We tried a special pork dumpling, hot and sour soup, pad Thai , orange chicken and lettuce wraps. Lettuce wraps were the best but overall I would not return

“Fresh And good”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2013

Usually hit big bowl every trip to Chicago. Kung paco chicken very good. Beef and broccoli yummy. I really like the fresh ginger ale. Service was good. Restaurant a little loud and crowded, but everyone wants to eat there

“Stir Fry Bowl”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

That's their special, but if you don't know what veggies to choose leave it to the chef and am sure you will enjoy it. I tried the peanut curry sauce, that's the closes taste you could get to some Indian Masala. If you are asked to try their new Big O beer, remember its almost like a Blue Moon

“Great local fresh food, excellent service, reasonable prices”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013

We recently went to Big Bowl for the first time, and it was fantastic! Our waiter was super helpful, explaining how the stir fry counter worked, and recommended dishes for us. He was super knowledgeable. The food was fast, hot, and had large portion sizes AND wasn't priced any more than you would expect the dishes would cost. There was a mix of Chinese, Thai, Japanese, and Korean dishes offered, and well as a make-your-own-stir-fry option. The only negatives were that they have the tables packed in really tight, which makes walking difficult, and (for a party of 6) they automatically added a 18% tip to your bill. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and would return!

“Finally Fusion that Works”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2013

This is the kind of place that usually makes me cringe. Taking what is really several very distinct styles of cuisine (Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Korean) and smashing it all together haphazardly into a "fusion style" often results in food that is poorly conceived, poorly executed, and just down right unappetizing. Thankfully Big Bowl is a chain that has seemed to overcome the problems of fusion cuisine, starting with a well thought out menu offering food that actually tastes good. Throw in the restaurant's emphasis on organic and locally sourced ingredients and you finally have an "Asian food in a non-Asian restaurant" concept that actually works.
