“European Market in Downtown Chicago”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

Every part of Fox & Obel is perfect. From the fresh, homemade breads to the huge selection of cured meats, cheeses, and olives, to the delicious pre-made items--F&O is a perfect spot for a quick bite to eat or to pick up ingredients for an entire meal. I love this place.

“Great Food-Poor Service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013 via mobile

The restaurant in this grocery store looked promising. After being seated, we sat for over 5 minutes before being greeted. The waiter was not friendly and did not inquire if we would to start with a beverage. Instead he asked what we wanted for dinner. After ordering, we received our calamari timely but were disappointed when our hanger and New York steak arrived within 5 minutes of the calamari. The food was outstanding. We were never shown the dessert tray or offered coffee after our meal. Management please listen! The restaurant could be very good with some fine using of its wait staff.

“Wanted it to be better”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

The idea seems great, but in execution it was disappointing. Difficult to navigate the layout of this store, and the selection is limited. Prices set higher than Whole Foods.

“Food Church !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2012

Like any French person, food is very important so we love to go to Fox & Obel to eat Breakfast, lunch or get food that is not possible to find anywhere else. This is THE grocery to go if you like cheese, wine or rare products like duck confit or smoke salmon.

“Great Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2012

We were in Chicago for only three days but ate our breakfast here all three. This is a small eating area in the back of the store and not the Bistro. You order at the counter or pick up items in the store such as pastry. Then find a table and they serve you the food. We enjoyed the very casual atmosphere and the locals. We also ate lunch one day and the sandwiches were excellent. We walked from our hotel, but there is meter parking along the street.
