“Cozy Atmosphere with Excellent Food and Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2013

Enjoyed dinner at this restaurant with 4 friends. We had a very nice bottle of wine and each of us enjoyed excellent food selections. The food was fresh and perfectly cooked. The atmosphere was enjoyable.

“Best Meal Ever!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2013

My husband and I walked to this restaurant from our hotel. We were seated immediately on a Friday night. It was freezing outside but we opted to eat outside in the closed in area and glad we did. We were able to watch the passers by and get a feel for the city. Our food was brought out promptly as we were enjoying the bread in olive oil. The portions were hug and absolutely delicious. I would definitely return to this restaurant upon our next visit.

“Say PMS at the bar? ”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2013

The vibe at the bar is so depressing it makes you not want to go back
What happened to Dan and any of the other long time bartenders?
A Classic Chicago spot needs nothing but the best service.
So seat at a table if you see two girls behind the bar. They can sure make anyone feel un welcomed.
Other than that, fantastic food (when this bartender doesn't bring it cold after 45 min) location, etc.

“What happened to the friendly service at the bar!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2013

My girlfriend and I live one block away from Carmine's. We enjoy eating/drinking at the bar and conversing with the bartenders. We eat and drink the same food and wine, Brick Chicken and Malbec. The bar at Carmine's was a great spot for locals; good food, good wine, a decent place to watch a game, and the bartenders used to treat you like family.

BUT SOMETHING HAS CHANGED!

During our past 3 visits we have experienced awful service at the bar. There are two female bartenders that show little regard for their customers. Regrettably, I do not have the names of the these women, but they rarely smile (one exception is when they drop the check), they have yet to recognize or care that we are repeat customers, and they seem to hate serving food at the bar. The worst culprit is the bartender with long, black hair. We will not return during her shifts.

“Mediocre”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2013

So disappointed - would never recommend. Veal Limone not cooked, red inside. Pasta like out of a can. Save yourself some money and skip this over hyped place!
