We were tired of the "museum shuffle" and needed a meal that was warm, filling and not a chain restaurant. Artist's Cafe fits that bill. Located a block south of the Art Institute and near the CSO, it is an unassuming small restaurant that serves excellent meals at reasonable prices. The staff is friendly and chatty and quick to acknowledge customers. Our food was well prepared, hot and tasty. There are several booths and some tables located near the windows to watch people stroll by and the traffic on Michigan. It was a very cold and snowy day when we stopped for the second time; soup and sandwiches fit the bill and the staff encouraged us to stay as long as we liked. Highly recommended
