“It's OK”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2011

Perry's has a big reputation, but I think it's based on the amazing big-ness of the sandwiches. They're huge. Gi-normous. But really? Not that great.

I know, I know... I'm a heretic. But read on: I'm also a reuben / corned beef / pastrami fan. The meat at Perry's is pretty good but not exceptional; I've often had better. On top of that, the bread tends to get soggy trying to hold up all that weight. Too much is too much! Finally, the people at the counter tend to be surly. Who needs it?

If I'm going to stand in line for 15 minutes I'd want to be more impressed.

“Close to sandwich perfection”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2011

We loved Perry's Deli! The sandwiches were very large and so good. The man who made my sandwich placed half of it in a to-go bag for me since they are so large. However, to-go was not an option once I started eating it. It was too delicious! I had the corned beef/swiss on rye with potato salad and a pickle. We don't have any true deli-style resaturants where we live so this was a treat. It was an excellent value for the money. I saw some of the triple-decker sandwiches and you could definitely share. Thanks to the reviews on Trip Advisor for helping us find this gem.

“fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2009

We were recommended to this deli by a local who told us to go here if we didn't go anywhere else.
He was right!!, you can't eat all of the delicious sandwiches, they are too big. The atmosphere is wonderful, real Chicago, friendly, happy, loud, and funny. You know you have reached Chicago if you have your lunch here. Turn off your mobile when you go there, or don't , to see what happens.
