“Convenient to Mercury Theater, but...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013

Sharing an entrance and rest rooms with the exciting Mercury Theater, Deleece is an obvious choice for a convenient meal before the show. While food is the best in the area, and service is knowledgeable, very helpful and accommodating, prices are rich. Dinner for two with a bottle of wine totaled $150 before tip.

“Other than good location for the theater, it's a miss”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

It was the obvious choice for pre-theater dining and never again. The convenience was not enough to offset the underwhelming food and service. This restaurant is lucky to have a captive audience from theater goers otherwise it should be empty. We barely got our food before we had to leave to see our show. Our server insisted there would be plenty of time, and there was if you're into power-eating in 10-15 minutes and out the door. Very frustrating.

The pasta was over salted, but the rest of the food under-seasoned. Mussles were mostly good, and would have been great with a touch less garlic. The crab appetizer and split pea soup had no flavor. The steak frite dish was lack luster, underdone soggy, sliced meat. Sear the meat please! It was drowning in brown mushroom sauce. Just plain unappealing. The special Lamb dish was pretty good, good horseradish potato mash.

I do like the restaurant space. Lively and inviting. But without great food and service there are plenty of Southport restaurants to choose instead of Deleece.

“Brunch before Theater”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013

We didn't have a reservation for brunch before the 2PM matinee at The Mercury, but they encouraged us to wait 5 minutes and we had a great lunch in plenty of time to get next door. I had the duck sandwich which was very tasty, smooth and a bit smoky like bacon. My husband had the tuna. I like the sweet potato salad.

“A great place to go if you're at the Music Box”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2013

I went to Deleece for dinner last night for the first time since they moved. It was great. I'd been to their other location but it's been years. We had the salmon and their butternut squash risotto. Polenta cakes for an app. The best part for us was that they had plenty of meatless options to choose from so we didn't have to eat sides for dinner. What a treat.

“Love new Deleece location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013

My family has been here a couple times without me and I had the chance to go to the new location with friends. I love the new space. They get in on the excitement of Southport and theater. Service was friendly and helpful. Shrimp and grits is my go-to, which you usually cannot find in Chicago. They did a nice balance of shrimp. They had great specials on the menu, and the group around me all had items I want to try next time.
You can book at opentable!
Don't worry, the other Deleece is still on Clark, just north of School and the mac & cheese is divine.
