“Best Asian fusion meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2013

Incredible presentation and interesting selection of cold, hot and larger plates. The lobster with roasted leeks was outstanding. Our waiter, Michael stumbled a bit on service, but over compensated with crediting a desert the desert, grilled pineapple with coconut ice cream sprinkled with chile lime salt was the finale to a great meal. Go and ask for a table next to the kitchen for a dinner and a show!!

“Exceptional!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2013

The entire experience, cocktails at the bar, service and food at the table were all exceptional. Love the open kitchen. Portions are reasonable and good for sharing, be sure to get a good sampling of the menu. Garlic Chicken was amazing as was the lamb shank, monk fish and veal cheeks. We did not have a bad dish. Highly recommended!

“Short Menu Tall Noise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2013

Lived in Chicago 25 years. Currently working for uncle sam but can't wait to return..great great city. Had chance to get back for weekend and Embeya was one of 3 restaurants selected from my list of thousands to try. Got a bad table next to checkin and first thing I noticed was loud noise level (minus 1/2 star). Second was somewhat limited menu...this seems to be a trend to do a few things well or control whatever through a fixed selection menu. OK with me but would seem to limit numbers of returns without more frequent menu changes especially at big city price points. For appetizers we had what I think was a surf clam anchored dish with toasted pomegranate seeds etc.(eh), spring rolls (nothing special), and the infused salmon (v. good) (appetizers -1/2 star) . Was looking for crackers or bread as salmon looked hard to manage with chopsticks but turned out doable. Next, spouse loved the quail small dish..didn't speak to me the whole time while gobbling. Daughter had the noodles (tasty) , and I had a suzuki fish (Japanese sea bass..don't know if wild or farmed) that was very good. Reisling wine was the thing here and had excellant recommendation. Overall very good food. Atmosphere (seating and noise), and 2 lackluster appetizers dropped the rating. Have to be critical at this price point. Service good but slow at times. Would return so spouse could order several quail.

“Awesome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2013

We didn't realize it was restaurant week. They fit us in at 6pm on a Friday night and got us out in time to see Other Desert Cities at the Goodman. Food was amazing and service was top notch. The manager was kind enough to go out and personally hail us a cab to ensure we made it to the play. We would have come back for the food alone, but when the service is this good, you gotta give them some props. I'm telling everyone that will listen--check this place out!

“A fabulous restaurant in Chicago”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2013

This new, Asian fusion restaurant is a gem. The food is unique and expertly prepared and the staff is friendly but very knowledgeable. Had a wonderful dining experience sampling their small plates and excellent cocktails. Don't miss this for a special occasion.
