Chicago's my favorite American city to visit and photograph; such a fantastic array of architecture and great parks. Crown Fountain occupies part of the vast Millenium Park (and adjacent parks) complex; it is the next "feature" just south of Cloud Gate / The Bean.
Two 50' tall towers of glass block rise from a flat plaza. Sheets of water pour down 3 sides of each tower, flooding the plaza in a layer of water about 1-2 inches deep (make for some great reflections to photograph.) The 2 faces of the towers that face eachother, have embedded LED screens, which continually project changing human faces - faces of real people, very close up (eyes, nose, mouth). Periodically, a face will purse its lips, and a hidden spout, aligned with those lips, will spew out a column of water into the fountain. Hugely popular with kids in summer (more great photo ops, with appropriate permission from parents first, for any face-shots of their kids.)
A great place in warmer months to cool off, wade and people watch!
