My husband and I stayed here for four days and have already decided we'll stay here again, whenever we go back to Chicago. The hotel is near the corner of State Street, within easy walking distance of The Magnificent Mile/Michigan Avenue, Millennium Park, The Bean, the Art Institute of Chicago, shopping along State Street, lots of restaurants and clubs, and the red line (public transportation) train which can take you out to Wrigley Field. We went to the hotel's free cocktail hour three of the four nights we were there and enjoyed not only the signature martinis and other drinks, but also the very nice spread of hors d'oeuvres (bruschetta, breads, salami, mortadella, marinated mushroom, cheeses, etc.) We also took advantage of the free continental breakfast buffet each morning. The nice thing about it is that it's set up on each floor, so you don't have to get dressed and go downstairs to eat. The room was clean, quiet, nicely decorated, and even the bathroom felt nicer than most hotels because of the yellow towels. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, and we felt welcome every time we walked in the door. Adriel, Rafi, Jared, Greg, the staff at the desk, the bartenders, all made our stay enjoyable. There is a computer in the lobby near the elevators exclusively for printing boarding passes, so there's no worry about how to get them before you leave. Our only complaint about the hotel was the cost of parking: $47 per night!!! We learned that the blue line runs from O'Hare to within blocks of the hotel. Next time, we are going to take public transportation. Everything we needed was very close to the hotel, and taking a cab now and then will still cost a lot less than a rental car and the hotel fee for parking.

My wife, teenage daughter, and adult son stayed in two rooms to accommodate our last night in Chicago. The hotel was nice and provided a soothing environment after a day of pounding the pavement. The location is a block away from the river walk and a 10 minute walk to Millennium Park. Exercise room was well stocked and the cardio machines had their own tv. Only thing lacking was a pool, but not surprising considering the size of the hotel.

While the facilities were pleasant, the best part of the stay was the staff. A quick check-in and all of the bellmen were very helpful. They provided great tips on where to dine and good places to visit. All of which were "spot-on."

Room Tip: 5th floor contains the excellent fitness room.

I stayed at the Amalfi Hotel in Chicago recently as part of “Stay-cation” in the city I love so much. I chose the Amalfi because of its unbeatable location. We were within walking distance of some of my favorite restaurants, Michigan Avenue, Millennium Park, and a host of other Chicago attractions.
Perks of the Amalfi also include a “Manager’s Reception” every day, which is basically a cocktail hour with finger foods. The signature cocktail, “Amalfitini” was TOO good. It was included in the room price, which is unheard of! There was also a wonderful breakfast on our floor in the morning, which was convenient! We were able to grab our food and eat in the luxury of our own room just down the hall!
The staff at the Amalfi went above and beyond at every chance we gave them. Nick Ditter, Sales Manager, was so responsive and helpful in getting me a great room. The front door staff was incredibly cheerful, friendly, and fun to talk to!
I would HIGHLY recommend the Amalfi Hotel to anyone visiting the Chicago area that wants to be downtown. It is truly unlike any hotel experience I’ve had!

Clean, comfortable and pleasant small hotel between State & Dearborn, a block above the Chicago River. The staff were very friendly, helpful and professional. We (and our 3 grandkids) particularly enjoyed the included breakfast and evening manager's reception. The nearby Keefer's Kaffe has good sandwiches for lunch, but unfortunately, they're open only M-F 11:30 - 2:30, and we normally ate lunch elsewhere. Fortunately, across the street is Harry Caray's, which offered reasonably-priced kids' menus (cheeseburgers & fries & sundaes, which the grandkids enjoyed at a tall table in the bar--while we enjoyed a pint). We walked up State to Grand to catch the Red Line down to Roosevelt and walked over to the Field Museum from there. Using a ticket machine, you can load multiple fares onto one subway ticket and just insert it into the gate each time one of your party enters. We look forward to returning to the Amalfi soon.

Great place to stay, nice room, very clean. Great free continental breakfast every morning, even better free cocktail hour every night...stay here if you can. Staff went out of their way to guide us and advise us. Our first trip to Chicago and it won't be the last.

I stayed in this hotel for two days and was very impressed . For an inner city hotel, it was reasonably priced, had very friendly staff and quiet rooms. The breakfast set up whereby you can collect your breakfast from a buffet on each floor works well and ensures a quick turnaround . The coffee in the rooms is good.
Location is good for walking anywhere as central ( one block from river) position and doormen are helpful with directions.
All in all, a very nice spot to stay in Chicago !

Room Tip: Ask for units on end ( eg 430, 530) as they are a bit larger
