“convenient, swanky, great staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2012

my friends and i stayed at the amalfi for a long weekend of shopping, eating and drinking. the staff here are wonderful, great breakfast and evening manager's reception. room was super clean with no problems. great shower pressure and spacious bathroom is much needed for 3 girls getting ready at the same time. small and quiet. can't wait to visit again -

I travel to Chicago for work about every other month for an entire week, and I always choose to stay at the Amalfi. Not only is it a great location with excellent rooms, but the staff there are nothing short of perfection. The experience designers are always helpful and welcoming and the bellmen are fantastic. They even recognize me now when I come to town because I stay there so often. The breakfast on every floor is great, and I always attend the happy hour. The price is usually reasonable, and even if I was going to the city for pleasure I would still choose to stay there. It's my favorite!

We all know travel can be stressful and where we reside upon our travel is absolutely important. I travel to Chicago nearly 7 times a year and choose Amalfi Hotel not only for the convenience and great rooms but the staff and overall experience is worth it. There are endless restaurants and convenient shopping whether you wish to shop State or Michigan Avenue.

Safe Travels to you…

It was a very good location for us - and a nice place. The staff was very helpful including for a couple special requests that we made. The happy hour was nice with some decent hors d'ouerves. The breakfast is kind of different with presentation near the elevators on each floor - but features good coffee and a pretty wide continental offering. A couple times we saw things run out on our floor but generally they seemed pretty on top of keeping it stocked.

My room had some noise from a parking garage door that would beep at all hours, but generally the sound proofing seemed good for a busy location.

Rooms were comfortable and a bit stylish. Internet was very good though it did halt a couple times. Pricing is quite reasonable for the location - all in all a very good choice.

Room Tip: Not much view so rooms in the back could be a quieter choice.

I believe this is my 4th or maybe 5th time at the Amalfi and like always it was the best. Service is undescribable from the Designers to Bellmen. I was upgraded to a King Corner Suite and I just loved it. Ravello Lounge has a great look very comforting and it gives you a club-like feeling. This was the first time that I used the gym and it was great to work off the drinks from Ravello and the Sunday Brunch for Shaw's Crabhouse. Trust me this is the place to stay.

We regularly stay at the Amalfi due to great River North location, usually moderate price, and the complimentary breakfast + Happy Hour. The former Lounge made getting a drink or appetizer a challenge as it was always packed, with the drink line winding out the door and down the hall (pity the poor people in those 6th floor rooms.) Much improved renovation, although the superb bartender could use a little help at opening time, and with refreshing the appetizers. We loved the spread of Italian antipasti.

We arrived early, and after a ten-minute wait were able to check into our rooms. The Front Desk staff do try very hard to be accomodating. The concierge is helpful, although always busy. The bellmen actually are fonts of logistical info--I usually go straight to them with questions--super freindly and they know thier stuff!

Good linens, robes, slippers and sheets. Plenty of towels. Not much of a view, but that means less to us than the great location for walking to Navy Pier, Museum Campus, Michigan Ave, and the Art Institute. Rooms are of reasonable size. They have hit the important things for us with a reasonable price-point (plus they often run specials--get on their e-mail list.)

Room Tip: Ask not to face the street, and be higher up, for quiet. Lounge is on 6th Floor--so avoid.
