“Loved the Steppenwolf production of Head of Passes”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2013

We visited Chicago for the first time in April. Our son had recommended we see a play at the Steppenwolf. We are glad we took his advice, as we saw a preview of Head of Passes and were awed. Great writing, impressive acting, magical sets and comfortable seating. The staff were welcoming and enthusiastic, and the sense of community at this theatre made us want to be regulars. We wanted to see the Birthday Party as well, but ran out of time. The price of our tickets was very reasonable. It was such a great experience, we even agreed to a post show interview. Highly recommended.

“For more than a musical try the Steppenwolf”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

When you want to try something a bit more complicated than a broadway musical look a few Red Line stops north the Steppenwolf Theater. They generally run two or three productions in their three theaters so you can usually find something to sample. This company is definitely worth the price of admission.

As a tip, there are twenty seats in the back row of the main theater which go on sale at 11am the day of the show for $20. You can call the box office to reserve.

“The Birthday Party”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2013

We have seen a number of shows at Steppenwofl, never in the upstairs theatre. This production was great. Acting and staging were terriric. The audience arrangement set up a real immediacy. Highly recommended.

“Steppenwolf - Nice Black Box Theatre”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2013

My wife and I saw "The Birthday Party" at the Steppenwolf in March 2013 in their Black Box Theatre. The theatre was small and intimate, and no matter where you sit you are very close to the stage. The seats are comfortable, and the staff are very nice. I would like to visit again and see a play in one of their bigger theatres to see how that is as well.

Pricing for theatre plays are also fairly reasonable.

Parking is very cheap -- $10.00 for the whole time (when we went on a Saturday night, the parking area closes at 11:15PM), which is unheard of anywhere else in Chicago. There are many nice restaurants surround the Steppenwolf, and I would recommend trying the Mangia Roma Pizzeria & Roman Eatery across the street -- very good food at a reasonable price.
