I seen this place on Guy Fieri's show and I live in Milwaukee, WI and this place in located in Chicago, which is only about an hour and a half away. I love Carribean food, so I told myself next time I have a reason to go to Chicago, I must go there! Well my son really enjoys this type of food as well and we were going to be driving through Chicago to Indiana so we decided to go. We got like an app sampler that had the jerk wings, like a tostada type thing and some patties shaped in half circles. I had some spicy cabbage soup and my son had a soda, one of the specialty sodas. My son and I both really enjoyed it and we are looking forward to returning next time we're in town.

So I am following Guy Fieri And his adventures through town. We stopped here and initially were Concerned. I would not on my own accord stop here if it weren't suggested by the Man. Met with the owner and felt a little more at ease. Once the food started coming out, You would not believe that the food coming out of this place was this good.

Its a quaint little place that we stumbled upon a few years ago and just couldnt get enough of!
My favorite item on the menu is the succulent and flavorful jerk chicken! MMMM! I have tried many other things on the menu that were very tasty but always reverted back to the jerk chicken! Their aguacate and plantain chips were awesome and left you wanting more as their red beans and rice satieates your belly! Hussain is a real gentleman and attentive server. He always acknowledges you and will leave you feeling as if you were visiting his home kitchen. The ambiance is family friendly and dont expect to be rushed....perfection takes a little bit of time! Really, its worth every bite!!!!

I have tried this place today for the first time after seeing it on TV (Diners, Drive-in and Dives), so I decided to drive 1 1/2 hours to it. I received my food, the cabbage was old and tasted sour, and the conch fritters was very greasy. I did also buy some jerk wings that were wonderful, I haven't tried other dishes but I will not go back there.

The food here was fantastic. Beginning with the appetizers: the conch fritters were crunchy, yet tender and delicious. Then you have to try the tamale. I have had many tamales, but I have never had a tamale where the maza was so tender it broke apart as the fork would touch it. And it had an entire chicken leg inside. Fantastic. Then the Jerk Chicken was well seasoned and a huge portion. Best jerk chicken I have found without going to Jamaica. And it came with a side of cabbage that was also seasoned with a jerk sauce and it was one of the best cabbage that I have tasted. Another side was a dish where beans and rice are cooked together, but then they give you juice or very thin gravy to pour on the rice. And all I know is that pouring this juice over the rice was like a foodgasm. OMG...absolutely splendid! And I haven't even mentioned that the cocktail tasted as if I was sitting on the beach in the carribbean again. Conch soup...wonderful. Ended dinner with a slice of sweet potato cake...yes, that's right, I said cake (not sweet potato pie)...and they served the cake warm...fantastic! What restaurant serves cake warm?? This one! Family run place, friendly family and staff. Must go back! The one worry I had was the location, but there is a small parking lot next to the restaurant so it's a short walk.
