“Great Value and Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2014

For the money this hotel is hard to beat. The location is perfect. You are only a few moments WALKING distance from the train/subway, millennium park, a slew of shops and restaurants, the magnificent mile, and the navy pier. The beds are comfy, the sheets and bathrooms were clean, and the room was a perfect size. The lobby is small and nothing that is going to ooh and awe you, but if you are in Chicago for the sights and activities, then all that really matters is a great location, comfortable bed, and clean sheets and room, and you get all 3 with the River Hotel. Although we didn't have a vehicle, there is parking next door for $16 per day, and the hotel has a device near the elevators that allows you to fill bottles with filtered water for free (see photo). The hotel also had a nice river view and was quiet. Would definitely stay again.

Perfect location, excellent nicely-furnished contemporary room and fabulous food to make our stay in the Windy City a memorable experience. Love the filtered water available to refill your own bottles.

The River Hotel is the part of Club Quarters. Club Quarters is a business membership hotel and the River Hotel is open to non-members. It's on the lower floor of the building, but I believe it's the same, otherwise.

Small room, but nice sized bathroom and the sink/vanity is in the room, outside the toilet and shower area. Very small TV, mounted on the wall above a very small pull down writing area. The "kitchenette", was actually a regular sized frig that you find in all hotel rooms. It also had a small microwave mounted above the frig. That's it. Not sure how that qualifies as a kitchenette.

One really cool feature was a water bottle station on the 9th floor to fill up your water bottle and they even had new bottles there for you to use. This was really appreciated.

Overall, the room was nicely, but darkly appointed and was very clean. But - it was very, very small, even for 2 people, but if you know the Club Quarters brand, that's what they're known for.

This was our first time travelling to Chicago. We were unsure where to stay but read the reviews for the River Hotel and the price was extremely reasonable compared to other hotels in this location.

The location was amazing!! We were travelling with our 18 month old and we were very happy that we were within walking distance to most of our desired destinations (navy pier, bus tour, john hancock centre, millenium park, boat tour) and a quick bus ride to soldier field, field museum and shedd aquarium!!) We had a great view of the city on the 10th floor! We had requested a river view when booking which we received and were very happy with! The free wifi is also handy and key entry elevators made us feel safe.

We were also very impressed with the door men who greeted us on arrival and continued to help us throughout our 4 night stay. The concierge, Roman was awesome as well! He was super friendly and helpful and remembered our daughter by name every time we passed through during our stay!!

We booked a superior room with a kitchenette so we could care for our daughter's needs. Just be aware that the kitchenette is just a small cooler fridge and a microwave. We had to wash her dishes in the bathroom sink...which was no big deal but we had just expected a kitchen sink with the "kitchenette" title.

Overall, we were very happy with our first visit to Chicago and will be travelling back soon!! The people are so friendly and the architecture is amazing! Definitely take the bus tour on your first day, it will help you navigate through the city and it is entertaining!!

Room Tip: -request a room with a river view -"kitchenette" means small cooler fridge and microwave...

Excellent location for this officiant and compact hotel. We were able to walk to almost every attraction that we wanted to visit. Although the rooms are small-ish, it has everything that you could possibly need: fridge, microwave, glasses, utensils, dishes, stove top, etc. You could certainly make yourself very comfortable and have meals here if you don't want to pay the price of eating out. Free chilled water is available and the rooms are clean and modern. Pedro and Tania at the desk are extremely accommodating, and went out of their way to help give tour information, directions and advice. If a view is important to you, you might have to make a special request. We would definitely stay here again and we would certainly recommend it!

We stayed there for four nights. The room was remodeled and current. The bed was very comfortable. The free bottled water was very convenient and a huge plus. The front desk staff was very helpful with everything, especially Roman. The business center was great, printed out tickets and boarding passes easily. The location was perfect. It was close to everything. I will definitely stay here again!

I researched about a dozen hotels and chose The River Hotel for a three night stay in Chicago. The price was comparable, if not better than most of the other properties I was considering and it was on the river. I was going to ask for a room with a view, but before I even got to it, Pedro had taken care of it before he walked us through the self check-in kiosk. Thanks Pedro.
We stayed on the 15th floor and I loved the view. The room was as advertised, yes, on the small side with a queen bed, but I found it to be perfect for two. Quiet for sleeping and dark if you pulled the curtains closed. There is a 'guest closet' in the hall with extras like coffee, tea, blankets and pillows. The elevator could be slow at times, but not unbearable, there are a lot of floors for it to travel.

Room Tip: River view is nice.
