On the positive side, the hotel is in a great location -- a block away from the Red Line and within walking distance of the Magnificent Mile and the Loop. And the River North area has enough attractions to keep you occupied for awhile at least.
The hotel was clean and the complimentary breakfast was decent (even though the coffee was terrible). They have a computer hooked up to a printer so you can check into your flight and print out a boarding pass, which is nice (although most hotels do that these days). The front desk staff were relatively nice.
But that's where it ends. The room we stayed in was TINY. There was barely enough room in there for the one queen-size bed. There was also a small desk, a chair and a TV/armoire, which left hardly any room to walk around, put a suitcase down or anything. And to add insult to injury, the only window in the room faced a concrete wall (airshaft) so the room NEVER had any natural light whatsoever. Even in the middle of the day, you needed the lights on or you would be sitting in complete darkness. The room felt like a poorly decorated cave with cable television. Luckily, we were always out in the city, but if you spend more than a couple hours in one of their rooms, you'll probably become suicidal.
In addition, the housekeeping staff only seem to work within a short window of time, between maybe noon and 2pm. If you're in the room at that time, your room is not going to get cleaned. So don't come back to the room in the middle of the afternoon unless you don't care about clean towels and linens.
If it weren't for the hotel's great location, it would only get one star (if that).
