The Acme Hotel Company succeeded in providing a very memorable stay for us in Chicago. The smartly executed blend of modern, well-planned amenities and vintage-flavoured décor created a super-comfortable experience, right in the heart of the city.
The staff were genuinely friendly and accommodating, going far beyond the call of duty from the moment we arrived at the front door to the time we (sadly) had to leave.
The morning "knock-and-drop" delivery of Morning Joe (kept piping hot in a sleek thermos) and daily complimentary breakfast (terrific array of choices!) started each day in fine style. Someone clearly spent time determining what tasty and fresh items would appeal to the hotel visitors. Coffee and tea were available 24 hours a day in the lobby too -- much appreciated!
Our room was fantastic! We opted for a suite to allow additional living space, and would most definitely go this route again. The hardwood floors were a welcome change from the usual over-trod (and often suspicious) carpeting in other hotels. No mundane, non-descript framed prints hung on the walls here -- instead, we were treated to boldly painted pop-art images adorning the space! The washroom featured a big sink mounted atop a granite counter, and the huge rainfall shower head and thick, thirsty towels were wonderful. Oh yes -- we loved the blackboard on the room doors. Such a great way to leave/receive messages!
On the lower level, there is a well-equipped fitness area (even a heavy bag!) contained in a schoolyard-like setting, complete with chain-link fence -- how funky! A sparkling hot tub and cedar-lined sauna round out the options for anyone looking for fitness options.
The cleanliness of the hotel surpassed anything we have experienced to date. The smiling staff were always busy polishing, scrubbing, and buffing every corner of the hotel -- and they never hesitated to greet us with a warm hello whenever we saw them.
Never before have we stayed at a hotel that didn't have at least one detail or service needing improvement. The Acme Hotel Company left no detail untended, and prompted us to randomly exclaim, "Man, I love this place!" on a daily basis -- no word of a lie!
P.S. A special shout-out to Carl, Acme's bighearted and attentive concierge/porter, who continually wowed us with his kind and helpful ways. He's a keeper!
Room Tip: Choose a suite, if you can -- provides more space and a guaranteed city view.

WOW! Thanks for the review, it was a pleasure to read! We were sad you had to leave as well. Coming in December, our ‘Morning Joe’ coffee delivery service will be expanded. The same great service you received will now include, wait for it…BREAKFAST! We’ll have some delicious options to choose from and deliver to your room. Our suites are a great way to spend your time in Chicago. With a living room area equipped with a sink, mini-fridge and microwave, you may decide to stay in! The suites include a Zeppelin sound system and not one, but two 46’ LED TV’s that are ready to stream from your Apple device or laptop. Cleanliness is important in day-to-day life, so here at the ACME it’s no surprise that we focus on having everything presentable. Karl is a great part of our staff and he really does appreciate your shout-out. We do appreciate your words of praise, it makes doing our job that much more enjoyable!
