I had noticed this restaurant, in the Prudential Building across the street from the north side of Millennium Park, during my last Chicago visit. I noticed it was jammed at lunchtime. We tried it for breakfast for this visit, when we were staying at the Radisson Blu Aqua hotel, a 5 minute walk away. It was so good, we visited 2 days in a row.
Wildberry is only open for breakfast and lunch, and can be a very busy place weekdays (local working folks) and weekends (families). Our visits, at 8:30am and 6:30am (when they open) were correctly timed to miss big crowds. The place seems to do a brisk take-out business, and has an Intelligentsia coffee bar also.
I like to have something savory and with eggs in the morning when traveling, but Wildberry's Berry Bliss pancakes also caught my eye--such a dilemma! Luckily, you can order these pancakes instead of toast with any egg dish for a mere $1 supplement. I started each meal with Wildberry orange juice--fresh OJ with a mixed berry puree added--it's an odd colour, but so delish. One day I had the special duck hash, while the next day I had a sizzling garden skillet with potatoes, 6 veggies, cheeses and eggs. Both yummy. And then, the Berry Bliss pancakes--blueberry pancakes layered with Wildberry mascarpone and topped with squiggles of vanilla creme anglaise and blackberry coulis, with fresh blue, black and strawberries on the side. Decadent, but addictive. This berry bliss shenanigan is also served in crepe and French toast form. Needless to say, we skipped lunch on these 2 days.
Service was very friendly and patient with us Wildberry novices. On our first visit, the food came out in the blink of an eye, on the 2nd visit, in about 10 blinks.
Wilberry and the Radisson Blu Aqua hotel--a winning combination for Chicago visitors.
