“So Comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2013

The service provided by the housekeeping, room service, and valet staff was prompt, polite, and friendly. Our friend who recommended Sofitel raved about the comfortable beds. He was absolutely right, because I don't believe I've slept in a more luxurious hotel bed. My only criticism concerns check-out. The bill had to be adjusted to reflect that our package included breakfast, and the desk clerk was not particularly pleasant when it was brought to her attention.

My original stay was in October and kind of impromptu because Hurricane Sandy blockaded the whole northeast, so this is in retrospect. Great hotel, great location, very modern and luxurious. I previously have stayed at the Elysian (now Waldorf) which is still my favorite; however, this is almost as nice but in a more European way. Plus, you can get a great deal if you time it right.

I had a junior suite which was excellent. Probably the most comfortable hotel bed I've ever had. The room was large with separate sitting area/pullout couch. Standard flat screen and entertainment. Loved the nespresso machine. Large, modern bathroom, great water pressure. The bar downstairs was happening at night; good cocktails and wine selection. I only had lunch at the restaurant on checkout, but food was well prepared, delicious (not cheap). This is a perfect hotel for a weekend getaway, business trip, retreat, etc; definitely worth a stay.

Room Tip: get the junior suite on a higher floor for an amazing view.

I have stayed in many fine hotels in Chicago but this one was in a word wonderful. From the moment my wife and I checked in it only got better. We were upgraded to a Prestige Suite which is a very large one bedroom with city views. It was beautifully appointed right down to two large flat screen tv's. The bed is very euro style with a big fluffy comforter which was a bit warm and a simple call to housekeeping changed that to a lovely blanket.

Service is first class in every respect. The housekeepers do not push around those big carts, they carry small baskets with the things they need.

Food in the restaurant was excellent. We had breakfast each morning and the selections and quality were everything we wanted including fresh pressed coffee and marvelous croissants.

We spent four nights and would go back again and again. Oh the hotel is two blocks from Michigan Ave and the Water Tower.

My husband and I stayed Saturday night and left Sunday afternoon. The hotel is located in the near North section of the City. You are 2 blocks from Mag Mile shopping and the Gold Coast, and there are plenty of good restaurants and bars you can walk to. You can easily get a cab. You are very close to the Hancock Buiilding, Holy Name Church, Loyola University, Water Tower, Bloomingdales, American Girl and other attractions. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the hotel is very clean. It is a posh hotel. We stayed in a King Superior room. The room was nice, clean and bright, the decor was minimal and tasteful. The bed was good, the pillows are very fluffy. We were able to clean the room at a great temp. The bathroom was great and big. Marble floors, and a separate tub and shower. Water pressure was great and it didn't take long for the water to come up to temp. We had afternoon drinks on Saturday prior to going to dinner. The bar, called Le Bar, is nice, chairs are comfy. Service was good. Drinks were good, however, just like any hotel, pricey. We also visited the bar that evening after we came back from our dinner, and event. The place was packed and loud and this was at 11:00 pm. Service was a little slow, but given the sheer amount of people, it was understandable. We will be staying here again in the future.

Great location in Chicago, within walking distance to good shopping, restaurants and many tourist attractions. Very well trained staff, but some weren't as pleasant as the staff in other Sofitels I've stayed at. Great room, very well appointed, free wifi, nice bathroom. Restaurant is very good with an attentive staff. Definitely recommend.

The hotel was easy to get to from the subway (we took this from airport) easy and cheap. The staff were really helpful and the room was clean spacious and comfortable we had a great view as we were 24 floors up. The gym was good plenty of machines with complimentary fruit for after your work out. Really good place to stay not the cheapest but then again you get what you pay for! Very modern not much character though. Service makes up for this.

Truly a high end property, with gracious but not invasive staff and funky design. All of the public spaces are shaped off of variations of the triangle instead of a square. Concierge is very knowledgable about public transportation routes. Allowed us to checking early with no issues. Super bedding makes youbwant to sleep!

Room Tip: We had a high floor with a great skyline view.
