“Lovely hotel in the heart of it all”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

The W was recently renovated from a low end hotel. They did a nice job with the renovation, dramatically improving the space. The rooms are trendy and comfortable and the location can't be beat. We were able to watch the air show from the roof deck on the 7th floor, which was spectacular. The W is near everything, across the road from Navy Pier, etc. so it is very convenient for a city specific trip. The food was first rate and the service was superb. The parking is outrageous ($69 per night) and the overall cost of the hotel was higher than other similar properties.

Room Tip: Lakeside rooms have huge windows and are very sunny. If the weather cooperates, of course!

The hotel is close to downtown and is also walking distance to Michigan ave. It also sports an EXCELLENT lobby bar with a broad variety of wines, beer, and specialty cocktails/martinis. The rooms are a bit spartan but comfortable. I stay here for every Chicago based business trip.

Stayed at the W Lakeshore for the weekend. Really enjoyed the hotel.
It was close enough to everything that the accessibility was easy, but far enough that it was quiet and enjoyable.
The property seemed a little older, but really well maintained.
Overall a very pleasant experience.

We booked the hotel through Priceline and I cannot tell you how awesome this hotel is! It was extremly modern and actually was kid friendly. The staff was over the top helpful...we got there early and they took our bags so that we could take in the sites while our room was getting prepared. Location, location, location! You couldn't ask for a better place to stay if you want to go to the Navy Pier, the walkway on the lake, Michigan Ave, and just every thing else Chicago has to offer. Also a hint...parking is only $43 in the erie ontario self park for 24 hours plus. Highly recommend!

Room Tip: We did the Priceline "name your price" and got a city view room for $85.

I have not stayed at this hotel prior to its renovation, so I can't give a before and after picture. The after picture, however, is good.

Service is top notch. We arrived at the hotel at 3:30 AM due to a long delayed flight. Hotel had us checked in, moving up to our room, and all toiletries we asked for in-hand within 3-4 minutes of walking in the door.

Had a lakeview room; great view. All the boats were out on the weekend, so had a good amount people watching to look at.

I had some minor issues come up. In-house manager quickly jumped on it and went and resolved it. The only thing that holds me from 5 stars is the gym. It supposedly has not completed its renovation.

This was not a big deal for me as I simply went for some runs in the park right across the street (which was great), but in the winter I would be less inclined to run on the lake.

I would suggest disregarding all reviews prior to July or so of this year. Management clearly invested a lot in training the staff and a lot in the hard-product.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a lake view room. Worth the view of the pier.

We have stayed a number of times at the W Lakeshore, but this was the first time staying there since the new renovation. The hotel is absolutely beautiful! Both the lobby and the rooms are well decorated, comfortable, sleek and trendy! We arrived in Chicago very early ( 8:00 A.M) and were so pleasantly surprised when Sasha at the front desk was kind enough to check us in early. The room was absolutely gorgeous and the decor was done in great taste. We ate breakfast at the restaurant three days and each time, had a different server, all who were terrific. Mac, Phillip, and Alexander were the servers who took care of us, and the reason why I remember their names is because all three were personable, friendly, and professional. The food was delicious and was prepared exactly how we ordered it to be done. The view of the lake, is, of course, magnificent, which only adds to the pleasant stay that we had. We come to Chicago every few months and will absolutely continue to stay at the W Lakeshore. What a great weekend we had and what a classy hotel it is! Terrific job on the improvements and renovation!

Room Tip: All of the rooms are beautiful, but if you want a fabulous view, get a room with a view of the lake...

Even after spurging for a suite I was sorely disappointed. WiFi was not complementary neither was an in room microwave. The frig was small with a noticeable odor. Will definitely stay at the Waldorf or Ritz-Carlton next time.
