“Superb”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2014

The Peninsula is a very well run, well appointed hotel in a great location. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. The bed was large and comfortable. One small issue I had was with the TV remote suffering at great deal of lag between pressing buttons and anything happening on the TV. It didn't bother me much because I wasn't in town to sit around watching much TV. Other than that there was nothing to fault the hotel on. If you want an upmarket hotel in a good location you should give the Peninsula a chance!

Started our route 66 tour here. Really clean and staff welcoming.
The room was really lovely but no coffee facilities ☹, the bathroom was large and immaculate – the housekeeping is the best we have ever seen!
Really well located for local bars and eateries

Thank you for having us – we will be back!

I am giving this hotel 5 stars that it is so well deserved. Our room was nice and clean and spacious. No nasty hotel smell. Our room had a microwave and a small refrigerator which came in handy.
The breakfast was very good which included waffles, scrambled eggs and an assortment of pastries. Breakfast items were constantly replenished which was a good thing. The staff walked around and made sure our breakfast was ok and we were not in need of anything.

We checked into this hotel last weekend and, from the moment we arrived, everything was perfect. Our room was not ready upon our arrival so the front desk representative upgraded our room. The room was quite large with a beautiful lake view. All room controls were electronic and on a control pad by the bed. Even the privacy notification on the front door was electronic. We loved the turn-down service which gave us fresh towels, toiletries, and a box of chocolate truffles. The desk was equipped with every office supply a guest could need including a printer/scanner/fax machine in the drawer. The flat screen tv was very large and was built into a swinging armoire. The closet was lit and large. There were many drawers for clothes storage. The bathroom was enormous. There was a separate glassed-in area for the commode, a huge shower with both a rain-shower head and a hand-held head, a sunken bathtub with electronic tv controls, a separate dressing area, and aromatic toiletries. The bed was the highlight of the room. It was so comfortable, the pillows were large and down-filled, and the duvet was luxurious. I didn't want to wake up in the morning. The location of this hotel is perfect for everything Chicago has to offer.

The Peninsula Chicago is in the heart of Magnificent Mile. The rooms are not huge but so well appointed you lack for nothing. I am a fussy traveler when it comes to housekeeping and attention to detail. The housekeeping at the Peninsula Chicago is superior. Both daily housekeeping and evening turndown put my clothes in neat piles (even the worn clothes I threw on the closet floor). Toothbrushes were ensconced in envelopes make out of towels. My iPad that I left out of the safe was delicately placed on its own towel with the charging cord tied up in a ribbon. These housekeepers are clearly more respectful of my stuff than I am. We called down for service on a couple of items and the staff was at our door within minutes. The smell of the shampoo and soaps were delicious. The bed was comfortable and the towels thick. Complimentary water was left bedside everynight. One important note. I love that the room was decorated in a more traditional style. I am so tired of hotels trying to be slick and contemporary that the comfort is compromised. The decor here wasn't cool and hip but rather plush and elegant: wood and upholstery. The fitness center was better than adequete. We didn't eat on property. The only complaint would be that the concierge always looked too busy to approach. I didn't need them but still. No smiles or greeting from them as you walked by even with their ears pressed to the phone. Coffee at the lobby level if you need it before breakfast. Front desk staff much friendlier and more available. We (husband and 19yo son were with me) were very satisfied with this hotel. We would love to stay here again.
