“Chicago's gold standard in hotels”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 24, 2012

I have dined at the Peninsula several times and have always wanted to ‘retire to my room’ after dinner, I finally got my wish and the Pen did not disappoint. From check in to check out everything ran like clockwork, but on your schedule. The rooms are a perfect size for two guests however I might consider upgrading to a suite if we had children with us. I loved how quiet the room was. Everything was in good repair and working order. The room was kept very clean. My only wish was that the blackout drapes overlapped so that no sunlight shines through in the morning. I also understand a guest comment about the towels. They are not soft, just think of it as an opportunity to exfoliate. Other than that the room was perfect.
The spa and swimming pool are beautiful, the website is modest in its representation and the staff was very professional. We went during the holidays so there were a lot of children that shared the space. I am sure that at other times it is more relaxed and tranquil.
We dined at the Lobby and enjoyed a wonderful dinner there and added the chocolate bar for an additional $20.00 ($40 if ordered on its own, Friday and Saturdays only) If you won’t be staying at the hotel this is a must do. The chocolate bar or their tea service epitomizes the Peninsula experience. I live in Chicago and can’t wait to take my next “vacation” at the Peninsula.

Room Tip: Higher floor rooms do offer better views, but it’s the location of the hotel and not the views that...

Didn't stay here this time, but took a trip back to the bar. It can get busy and service therefore is slow, but something about this bar, the lighting, the couches, the decor, the bar and people working.. they all work well.

every year a group of friends get together and we have lunch at the peninsula. it is the most festive and elegant setting to get you in the mood for Christmas shopping. Do the lunch a bit late, at 3pm the live music begins and is wonderful. My personal favorite is the totally superb grilled cheese and tomato soup. The staff are very helpful and will be happy to get anything you might need to make your luncheon experience perfect!

What a treat! This Hotel is wonderful. The staff go out of their way to treat you like you should be treated in a hotel. Super friendly and polite. The place is immaculate. The rooms were comfortable and elegant, roomy and had mood lighting as well. The maid service tuned the room up like no tomorrow. Turned down the bedding, set the mood lighting, set the music to soft low music, folded all the towels wrapped up all my charging cords put out my slippers, etc, etc. The Spa was warm and inviting, the men's locker room had plenty of showers a steam room and a reading area with robes and slippers for everyone. The reception area had tea with honey and orange sliced water. The Hot tub and pool area were spotless and the view from the hot tub overlooks the city skyline. If you have some cash this is a must stay!

They have a wonderful staff that ensures our client’s stay @ the Peninsula. Our client has been very happy with staying here. They are responsive with any concerns (even though nothing major). Great to deal with & will definitely work with again in the future.

Room Tip: All rooms are fantastic!

My wife and I came for a three day stay at the Peninsula Hotel recently . From the time we checked in until the time we left , we were treated royally . The rooms were exquisite and the location was optimal to shopping and dining . The housekeeping staff called us by name and no request was too small . Be prepared to pay for what you get , but lets say that I have payed comparable rates for much less . We will be back next year !

Just stayed at the Peninsula for a work week and I have to say that I am both very impressed and surprised. Suprised because I can't really fault anything. The location is fabulous, the hotel building itself i immaculate, the service is sensationally good, the rooms are very large and in excellent shape, the restaurants serve fabulous food (try the Chinese Shanghai Terrace..very tasty), the gym and spa is world class at the 20th floor overlooking chicago. I could write a very lengthy review describing especially how good the service is but there is no need. Its a fantastic place, so if you are looking for a top notch classic place in Chicago and if you can afford it then it comes with my top recommendations. Its rare for a hotel to come across the way they market themselves, this one do, actually its nearly better than the marketing, which says a lot.
