“Great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2013 via mobile

Good location for shopping, eating, and relaxing around town. Parking was pricey but expected for parking downtown. Breakfast was great! I will definitely stay here again if I have the chance. The furniture isn't very nice but that part of the room was used for a baby sleeping area. Bed was comfortable and I liked having a fridge that was stocked with overpriced drinks.

Good for families...near Navy Pier and Magnificent Mile, free breakfast, pool, and mini-suites. The staff was nice and helpful. Older hotel and it showed its age, you can see it in the carpet, stained furniture, and peeling wallpaper. It takes 2 elevators to get to the street level, which gets difficult for those who have a hard time getting around. It's not on the lake, even though it says "Lakefront".

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the lake, only a few rooms have it though, Good Luck. Concierge leaves at 5:00...

The hotel including rooms has been updated. the service was nonexistent. When a maintenance issue was reported to the staff, not only did I not receive service but they completely ignored my multiple requests and frustration.

Dear Guest -

On behalf of the management and our staff, we would like to thank you for your recent stay with us.

We are delighted that for the most part you enjoyed your visit; however, we are disappointed to learn of other aspects of your stay that were not up to your expectations. We strive to provide our guests 100% satisfaction and we are truly sorry that this was not the case during your last visit. Please be assured that your valuable comments will be shared with our engineering and housekeeping teams so we are able to learn from our shortcomings in order to keep improving upon our offerings. There is absolutely no excuse for not tending to your calls in an expedient and professional manor. This is both embarrassing and unacceptable from a great hotel in downtown Chicago.

Thank you again for your review and we sincerely hope that you give us another opportunity to welcome you back again next time you are in town.

Sincerely,

Syed E. Hasan

We spent a few days in Chicago to visit DePaul University and sightsee. This hotel has an excellent location, but is very large. The breakfast was done very well and was prepared for how many guests they have. The manager's reception had more food than most of the Embassy Suites receptions we have been to. The room was a normal Embassy Suites room and was clean. The concierge was helpful with transportation information. Bus stop across the street which can take you to a train station. Definitely a nice hotel and perfect for what we needed.

As a group of lively, lovely over 50 senior ladies, who gathered to celebrate our birthdays and long friendships, this hotel met our needs for the occasion. The hotel is walking distance from Navy Pier and the Magnificent Mile; there is even a pharmacy and grocery store across the street. The complimentary breakfast is totally ample for beginning the day and the afternoon manager's reception is a nice idea. The staff is gracious and accommodating. When we did need transportation, cabs were accessible. Overall, an excellent value for the presentation.

Room Tip: Rooms that are not directly open to the atrium are preferable.

We stayed at Embassy Suites Lakefront on June 14th and 15th. This hotel could not be in a better location. It's a short 10-15 minute bus ride from Union Station, a few block walk from Michigan Avenue and Navy Pier. We bought a CTA pass and used the buss system to get around, and this hotel is about four blocks from a few buss stops. The manager's receiption with free drinks and snacks was really great. No hot food, but snack mix, chips and salsa and such. We sat at in the atrium during the nightly manager's reception and had a Chicago deep dish pizza delivered...it worked out great. The hotel staff is friendly and helpful. We had a little bit of an issue with the security company which the hotel has a contract with, but it was quickly resolved with help from the hotel staff. The pool is fairly small, but we didn't spend much time there, so it really wasn't an issue. We extended our stay an extra night and they were able to accommodate us and let us keep the same room so we wouldn't have to move all of our stuff. This is a really good hotel for the price.

The room was a great size for 3 ladies sharing the suite - had a separate sink in the bedroom - big plus. Daytime Concierge was great - extremely helpful. The room was not as clean as we would have liked (paint on the bathroom floor - vent in bathroom was dirty and there was stuff on the carpeting from previous tenants) and there were not enough wash cloths or cups for more than 2 people. Enjoyed the pool and hot tub but the third day the pool was cool and so was the hot tub. Also - too many kids in the hot tub!

We loved the breakfast buffet and the Happy Hour drinks were good but not the snacks. I would stay there again but hopefully get better cleaning service in the rooms.
