Another Scott Harris creation, Davanti is a surprise with its extensive menu. Portions "for sharing" ; tiny bites;
assortment of combinations and the most enthusiastic and accommodating staff ever.
Out first visit was a weekend night when it was packed, the bar bustling, all tables filled, but we still received great service. Our second visit was at 5pm on a weekday, nice and quiet. If you don't use valet parking (too early for valet on our second visit) watch for the parking "stations" where you pay for parking on the street.
The menu offers a wide variety of tastes from Foccacio with melted fontina and honeycomb (my fave). The honeycomb is the coup de grace, as it is an additional $2.00 and is as large as a thumbnail. But somehow it works!
You can order a la carte some servings of prosciutto and cheese (sliced prosciutto is generous, the nutty fontina cheese square is just 1.3 ounces. ...about the size of a pat of butter.) I think that was Scott's humor, to see whomever would pay $6.00 for that bit. Well, we did, and laughed when it came. Lesson Learned.
