Description: Girl & the Goat has been serving fun foods, craft beers, and making wine in a rustic and kick-butt environment since summer 2010. The restaurant opens at 4:30 every day, and stays open until 11pm on weeknights and until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays (until those last late night eaters scrape their fork across the plate for the last time, or finish licking their plates until they're shiny and clean). The Goat's menu is divided into three categories: Vegetable, Fish, and of course Meat--while vegetable, fish, or meat are respectively the main stars of their categories, there are crossovers in each area so you'll get a little bit of everything. Bread is baked daily, and there are always new creations on the menu. Girl & the Goat sits in the West Loop smack dab in the Randolph Restaurant Corridor, but the location is still gritty enough to appeal to the chef’s integrity. The Goat has a variety of seating choices, including a comfortable lounge, bar seats, standard table seating, and four seats close enough to the kitchen line that you might be asked to help.Girl & the Goat blended their own wine, and it's tasty. There are beers on tap from Three Floyd’s and a couple others. If you're lucky, you might come across the elusive collaboration beers that Stephanie personally crafted with a couple of beer buddy cohorts. In addition to tap beers, there's also a bunch of bottles to choose from. Girl & the Goat is open 7 days a week, because The Goat is a tireless beast, and besides, who needs rest anyway? Girl & the Goat accepts reservations but always welcomes walk-ins, nomads, adventurers, and those of you who don’t like to plan.

“Adventure for the brave and comfort for the timid.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013 via mobile

Amazing place. Did not have reservations but clearly needed them for indoor dining Sunday evening. Packed house is always a good sign. Instead we were seated outside at a community picnic table family style which was great because we got to see and smell the dishes our neighbors chose. Friendly local diners shared their experiences and recommendations. Waiters suggest sharing at least 5 plates and menu offers a lot of exciting options. We did duck tongues, ahi tuna, shishito peppers and naked cowboy fried oysters. Fresh baked bread with infused butters and desserts are also incredible. The Top Chef herself made an appearance but clearly her restaurant is in capable hands. Really a must try even if in town one night. Anything with goat meat or cheese as an ingredient is sure to please. I also enjoyed the tart cherry scotch cocktails.

“Great West Loop Eatery”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

We loved our meal at TG&TG. The place itself is hip, energetic and upbeat. Even the valet was friendly and pleasant. The decor is industrial/minimalist but still inviting and not at all sterile. The wait staff is great; but there was, it seemed to me, a bit of a delay in the kitchen--somewhat understandable given that the place was "hoppin'." Our server was very knowledgeable about the various wines (good selection by the bottle or glass) and tap beers. The food was as you've heard: a wonderful, imaginative blend of textures and flavors. The pork shank was excellent and the cauliflower was incredible. Very cool.

“Deafening”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

The restaurant offers a unique selection of menu items and the quality and preparation of the food is impressive. We also found the wait staff to be friendly and attentive. Now the downside. The level of noise in the restaurant is slightly higher than that employed to brainwash prisoners of war. The relentless assault on our eardrums made it impossible for us to enjoy the experience and as a result we would never go back.

“Fun girls night out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2013

We absolutely loved our meal and drinks here. We couldn't get a reservation until about 10 at night and the place was still packed on a Thursday. We started with the roasted cauliflower (amazing) and chickpea fritters. Then we had the hamachi crudo and baby octopus. Both outstanding. Last we had the two pork dishes - pig face and pork belly. Yum, yum. On the side we had goat empanadas and oysters. We had prosecco and wine and loved every sip and bite.

“A Top Meal from a Top Chef.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2013

Selected the Girl & the Goat based upon Stephanie's win in Top Chef, but truly one of the best meals we've ever had. It had a great menu setup that reminded us of tapas, lots of different tastes. All was great, but the show stopper was beef tongue & corn (maza?) chips. Only complaint (minor) was wine pours were small. Cool area outside the main tourist areas, will explore it next time.
