“Wonderful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013

Beautiful property with full amenities and excellent service; close to all in downtown Chicago. Great food, staff and attention to detail. 12th floor executive lounge is exquisite; room service meals are made to order, including dietary desires. Would love to return for a longer stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the Willis (Sears) Tower.

Stayed here one night for a business meeting. Nicely appointed rooms with very comfy bed and pillows. A selection of firm to soft pillows was greatly appreciated. Meeting room was great, as was the staff who worked the room. All staff we came in contact with were very courteous and helpful. Lobby bar/lounge was great for drinks and food as well. Really enjoyed our stay!

To be honest I hadn't stayed in a Marriott hotel for quite some time, always viewing them as a little old fashioned. A recent stay at JW Marriott Chicago has won me back. The hotel is grand, rooms stylish and sophisticated and the service was impeccable. Its "Loop" location has you a few blocks from Willis (Sears) Tower and a short stroll from Millennium Park and the Chicago Institute of Art.

The rooms themselves are average size with super comfy bed, and elegantly appointed bathroom with separate shower and bath. The surprise was how good in room dining was. Let's be honest most hotels offer average (and overpriced) meals. But on two nights in room dining was the best option and the food was nothing short of restaurant quality - delicious and reasonably priced.

The Spa offers a great escape and again the service here really made sure you were looked after.

If you're looking for a truly enjoyable stay in the Loop area, a stay here will not disappoint.

Thank you for your reconsideration of the Marriott brand, and for allowing us the opportunity to introduce you to the expanding luxury tier of JW Marriott Hotels. Extensive research indicated the need for a hotel of our caliber in the Financial District, and it’s rewarding to us when guest reviews such as yours reaffirm that our decision meets the demand.
Regarding your dinner review, our intent is to set the benchmark for “In Room Dining”, inasmuch as we no longer refer to it as Room Service. We want all of our guests who chose to stay in to enjoy a high quality meal, but also provide the staffing and presentation worthy of a fine dining experience. Your review has been shared with our IRD Management and Associates and is most appreciated.

I stayed here for 3 nights on a business trip. I think the overall location is good - especially if you have business in the Loop, or if you are here for a convention (about $10 cab fare - one way).

It is close to the Millennial Park (about 0.45 mile walk), and close to the blue line if you needed public transportation. However, if you come on a weekend, as I did - you may find the area to be a little empty with stores (starbucks, walgreens) closing early.

The rooms were really nice, clean with well appointed bathrooms, and a good TV channel selection.

I give this a 3 star rating - which dropped from a 4 or 5 initially because of the absurd experience I encountered with the night staff and some other hotel guests. A hotel guest mentioned to one of the night staff that it would be 'funny' if we pressed all the elevator floor buttons and stopped on every floor. One of the employees of the night staff actually pressed every button - and we stopped on every floor. I reported this to the front desk staff and received nothing but an apology. Hopefully their staff can be better trained for next time.

Thank you for the constructive review; and my apologies for the additional time spent in one of our elevators. We pride ourselves as being the only luxury tier hotel in the Financial District and delighted our location and amenities met your needs.
Honestly surprised one of our associates, even if his/her intentions were good natured, would delay you and other guests between floors on the elevator. I would encourage you to reach out to the hotel and ask for the Manager on Duty in order for us to address this issue immediately. As the rest of your visit and review appears to have been a positive experience, we hope that we can reclaim a 4 or 5 star rating for your future stays.

Recently stayed here for 4 nights on a business trip so I didn't spend as much time in the room as I would have liked. However, the bed was quite comfortable, often an issue for me in hotels. The room itself was quite spacious and the bathroom was what I consider to be palatial. The tub was almost big enough to swim in (I took 2 baths "just because"), separate shower, separate door to toilet. Room was very quiet...never once heard neighbors or even people in the hallway. Lobby was well appointed and staff were friendly and helpful. I used the gym three mornings. It's huge as far as hotel workout facilities. I was quite pleased not to have to wait for equipment. Close to many eateries, public transit, etc. Overall, quite pleased with this experience.

Thank you for the "Top Notch" rating, always a pleasure in reading where a guest is able to spend some time in our hotel and simply decompress. We hope you'll consider making the JW your home away from home when visiting Chicago, be it for business or pleasure, we'd love to have you back.

Location: Very conveniently located in South Loop. Close to finalcial district, the El, restaurants and many tourist areas.

Rooms: Not very large, but elegantly appointed. Bathrooms are very impressive with serperate shower and tub. Marble vanity, very large.

Gym/Pool/Spa: Second to none. The best health club I have seen in a "non-resort" Marriott property. Very nearly a full scale health club. Pool is large enough to swim laps. Hot tun is large as well. Spa is very nice though on the expensive side.

Restaurants/Bar: Bar is what you would expect in a JW property, upscale and chic. Restaurant is Italian and pretty good, but would recommend dining in city.

Concierge/Service/Valet: All live up to the JW Marriott brand. Will assist with directions, cabs, metro, tickets, reservations, etc.

Thank you for the detailed review, we're happy that you had the opportunity to explore different aspects of our hotel and share your experience with other readers. The intent of Valeo Spa was to create an "urban oasis" and delighted it met your needs. Our location in the Financial District was initially designed with the business traveler in mind, but we've discovered that many of our guests now choose us to be near Chicago's top tourist destinations. It's always rewarding for us to hear that you and your family had a memorable stay!

This hotel is superbly located. The rooms, bathroom, gym, etc, are all ok. Room service is also good. Their Italian restaurant on the 2nd floor offers high quality food. The staff is very friendly and efficient. All in all an excellent experience.
