“Almost perfect”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

I stayed at this hotel for more than a week on business. The hotel is located in the financial district, which is good if you have business downtown. However, for a pleasure trip, nothing is very close. The hotel is quite luxurious and tastefully decorated. The lobby bar is really nice with good food, although it closes pretty early. The rooms are large, well furnished with a nice desk, comfortable bed and large TV. The bathrooms are really large with a separate head, shower, soaking tub and double sink – all finished in marble and granite. The service in the executive lounge is absolutely great – it serves a varied and well prepared breakfast and hors d'oeuvres in the evening. The gym is well equipped with weight and cardio machines. The in hotel restaurant the Florentine is very good. This hotel would be almost perfect; except for a few service flaws – hair conditioners comes up missing and have to call to get more – someone comes to pick up laundry and steps on my paper outside the door, instead of picking it up and handing it to me - paper delivered for two days and then stopped. Would give 4.5 stars.

Very happy with all aspects. Arrived well before check-in time, and after a bit of searching an available room was found. Room was spacious, very clean, large bathroom with double sinks. I had asked for a quiet room and this one was SILENT. Would return from breakfast and housekkeeping had already come and gone. Nighttime turn-down service includes chocolates.
This is a historic building, fully renovated, but one quirk of its layout is that walk from elevator to room can be a major hike. Elevators run very efficiently, less than a 30 sec. wait.
Lobby offers seating, freevwi-fi, bar, and food service, including light breakfasts. As a woman travelling alone, I felt very comfortable relaxing in the lobby.
Staff were professional and pleasant.

The lobby is open and beautiful with a large and open bar/lounge area. The room was impeccably clean, large bed, large flat screen TV. The bathroom was absolutely huge. Deepest bathtub I can recall seeing in a hotel, separate spacious shower, large mirror/countertop/sink.

This hotel is a solid 4 stars that with impeccable service would have possibly made 5 stars. However, the staff seemed just a bit disinterested. Nothing bad, but just a bit under expectations for a JW Marriott quality property. At this price point, a beautiful hotel with outstanding room amenities is a 4 star, and a 5 star is all of that coupled with a complete sense of urgency in guest service that just wasn't there.

If JW Marriott Chicago was located in Michigan Street would be much better. It's a very nice hotel with every service except the location. It's located in Loop where turn to a ghost town in the evening.

This is one of the best hotels I have stayed at in the U.S. The room was super and big, the bed was great and the bathroom was huge.
The hotel is close to everything, and easy to get to from the airport (ORD), the metro stop from the airport is only a short distance from the hotel.
The lounge was nice and the staff remember what they were serving the day before and ask if you want the same today as yesterday. Especially Marie from the executive lounge was great and "she has always a big smile on her lips".
Next time I am in Chicago I will certainly stay at this hotel again.

The lobby in this Marriott was enormous - sleek, modern and clean. The check-in was a breeze and luckily a room was available for my morning arrival. The staff was professional, friendly and efficient.

My double bed room was perfectly sized and I greatly appreciated the separate tub and shower. So much easier to maneuver in a stall vs. tub. The room was spotless, the bed comfortable, and the overall ambiance was classy and understated.

Many visitors usually stay on Michigan Ave. or the River North area. This property is located just a couple of blocks from Union Station, which was perfect for me. "The Loop" Chicago's financial and business district is no longer an empty shell when workers leave. There are plenty of restaurants and other attractions (as well as banks and drugstores). Chicago's second major shopping area, State Street and Millennium Park are both within walking distance.

I really enjoyed my visit here and would not hesitate to stay again.

Nice Hotel in the Financial Area. My room looked at the Willis Tour so that was an added bonus. It is very close to the L and a Garrets Popcorn. The bathroom has the shower and tub separate and it was nice to have turn down service and chocolates every night when I arrived after dinner. All the food that I had there was great as well.

Room Tip: Nice hotel for business.
