“Great venue and great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

I hosted a bachelorette party at this hotel in one of their luxury suites. The hotel exceeded my expectations in everyway. The staff was extremely accomodating with all my requests. Kevin at the front desk was expecially helpful and friendly at check in. He had lots of great recommendations! The suite is one the best two room suites I've ever utilized. The master bath was fabulous. It had a very large shower, large soaking tub, separate toilet area, and two large vanities. My only complaint was the restaurant service. We waited for 25 minutes before receiving service and when I complained no one appologized. They just shrugged it off like its normal to take an hour and half for breakfast. The food was delicous though so if you are not in a hurry I'd highly recommend it.

Great staff, very friendly. The door men were excellent as was the entire staff on entry. They gave us the letter explaining the Legionnaires disease problem they had, but they had already removed the fountain in lobby and closed locker rooms and pool /spa. I was told this is where it had been, so i felt very good about the stay and how it was handled by the hotel.

I stayed here with my friend during a busy Saturday night in Chicago. We were first greeted by a delicious concoction of iced strawberry-basil water in the lobby. The room we stayed in was nice, complete with modern bedding and furnishings. The bathroom was spacious, yet we were missing a blow dryer for our hair. Both of us had a difficult time falling asleep due to the loud guests down the hall. We were los awaken several times in the middle if the night because of the guests and the bustling of employees in and out of the double doors next to our room. I'm surprised how well we could hear all the noise in the hallway from our beds. Despite the lack of sleep we received, the JW was an incredibly accommodating hotel and is in a convenient location.

This hotel has good service, decent food and a nice gym. Unfortunately for me it was downtown and I would rather be nearer the Miracle Mile. The hotel is in a renovated historic building and the rooms are small. Separate tub and shower in the bathrooms and typical JW amenities. There are some great hotels in Chicago that are similar price points all with what I consider to be in superior locations. People doing business downtown will like the location, otherwise it's ten blocks or so to the heart of the Miracle Mile. If this wasn't a Marriott and pulling people in because of hotel points with Marriott Rewards then I think they would struggle because of their location.
I tried it, the hotel is standard Marriott fare, but I would much rather find a special at the Trump, Peninsula, Four Seasons, etc and be at a much higher level and better location for a similar price.

We recently completed a weekend stay at the JW Chicago. Overall a first class hotel that I would recommend to anyone. Location is not perfect but hotel itself compensates for this.

Pros:
Beautiful, large lobby
Large, expansive bathroom with full soaking tub and separate shower
First Class Staff
Several blocks to Red Line Train- best option to Wrigley

Cons:
Few nearby restaurant/bar options open on weekends
Sleeping Area of room felt a tad small

JW's are known for being among the Marriott famiy's best hotels, so I went in with pretty high expectations. Expectations met! Clean, classy room; big, elegant lobby; great service; just about everything you would expect. High marks for this hotel.

It is rare when the staff at a hotel makes the experience but it did on a recent stay at the JW Marriott. EVERYONE I encountered was accommodating, pleasant and went out of their way to make sure that we were satisfied. Desk staff, bar tenders, catering staff, bellmen. I stay in a lot of hotels and can say that this really made the stay. Food was great, room was great, etc. but the real item that you recall is the quality of the staff. I guess the fact it stands out so is that it is not so commonly found these days in such a consistent manner.
